I favour manual although the old volvo autos are nice , im not a fan of geartronic!

I prefer the manual volvo box to mercs and bmers i think its that very nice and slick!

Mercs and jags suit an Auto more being rwd cruisers, and merc manual boxs being a bit poo!

Great debate...I love both, but if you do loads of miles like me, then Auto is hard to beat. Also with the RICA 304 there is always plenty of power on tap....leave it in economy mode and use the mid-range torque or put it in sport and it'll kick down with the slightest prod of the throttle...no burying it in the carpet....Get it RICA'd...the difference is astounding.

I prefer Autos to manuals. for the comfort

Just use the auto like a clutchless manual, and use it for engine braking too.

in Econo mode it will drop down into to first at 25mph, which is a bit abrupt on approach to junctions etc. Put it into sport when coming down the box and first doesn't kick in till less than 10mph.

2nd is a long gear and when rica'd can take you well past 85mph and is great for overtaking and control through the twisty bits.

    How so wonderfully put !

My V70R AWD will deal with most In this mode !

Can be upsetting when you collect a challenge when you and the box , are`nt

ready , and you get kick down elliminator.

But if you drive the way you want the box , it does perform.

Took a while getting used to flooring the throttle, when in the old day manuals , I would be going down a gear and braking to set the car up for the corner , less say

Flooring the auto will get the gear you want , but stamping down on the gas took guts in certain situ`s I can tell you . but I got it now i think.
