___ What head unit have you ___

    Hey, Folks

Well, following the failure of my SC-900's ability to read any CDs and having been informed that it'll probably cost in the region of £150 to repair, I'm thinking about buying a completely different head unit.

Sony, Pioneer, Alpine, etc. What have you and how happy are you with the sound difference from the standard factory model?

    Ta

    Model numbers and prices?

I've been checking Ebay over the last 2 hours and there's a massive choice.

What do you lot do if you change to a sigle din unit? Is there a CD holder unit you can purchase to fill in the gapping hole left by the double din unit? (think I saw this once in Fraz's car)...

Ive got a Sony blackface HU, had it for 6years now, think i might need to replace it soon though, its going in for repairs again as the radio doesnt work and sometimes the volume sticks.

No idea what HU id go for next, definately something with an USB connection so i can download songs from the net and easily transfer them via my usb stick. Maybe something with a LCD screen, the 8 x 4cm screen, not these huge ones that cover every control on the dash.

    JVC KD-SHX701/751.

Have got the 701 in the volvo and it is mint, bought the newer 751 for the Scania at work but don't like it as much as the 701.

I used to swear by Sony, but after several repairs got sick of the Sonys and my local dealer advised me to try JVC's due to the superior internal amplifiers compared to the mid range Sony gear.

When your bank statement says you've spent too much just think "You can live in your T5, but you can't race your house!"

Kenwood KDC-W7031 with G Meter display (bit of a Gimmick but looks cool, especially when the car turns and the little graphical car moves with it) - Single DIN unit.

Bought the 'Universal' double to single DIN convertor from Halfords as the 'specific' listed one was just a blanking panel - the universal one has a very handy cubby hole with slots for CD's or DVD's.
