    My car.

As i haven't posted a pic of my car up yet. Thought it was time. Still alot to do. Only just got the 310bhp upgrade . (Thanks adam) and also the disc's and greenstuff pads. Joined the group for the exhaust and also trying to source some poly mounts for the top engine

    Thanks for the comments guys.

I do agree, the colour is not the best. But i still like it. The way i look at it though is, The 310 under the bonnet makes up for it. LOL

Just need to get a few little things sorted on it. Then looking into a set of 18's i think for it.

The shine is getting there. Got a kit in the shed waiting to go on it. One of those diomand brite shine kits. The one that lasts for 3 years. Takes 6 hrs to put it on. Done it with my last car. Made it look like new. Can't wait. Cost me £180 for the kit.

Very nice.. lovely colour and shine!

Have you noticed a difference in brake dust with the green stuff pads? Ive just finished cleaning my 18"s AGAIN.. give them 30miles and they will have another layer of dirty brake dust on them. Im using standard Volvo disks and pads you see.

I have noticed a bit extra brake dust with the green stuff. I have only had them on for about a week. So think i having more due to them braking in.

a bit extra? ouu.. i was hoping the brake dust would be substantially reduced, they have that as a selling point with these green/red stuff pads.

Let us know if after breaking them in they give off less

    Nice motor, BTW

kinda reminds me I've not polished mine for two months now, time to get the
    Autoglym out.

p.s I have 18"s and Mintex discs & pads, and the brake dust is minimal,

I was using red stuff ceramic on my 193bhp S70 before I sold it 3 weeks ago - they were fantastic and the brake dust was minimal - hardly anything at all really and the "bite" from cold was better than the standard pads.

Have done a lot of reading and sadly IMHO the diamond brite kits are not worth the £10 you can buy them for on ebay. Sorry.

There are better ways to get your shine on.

    I agree what your saying.

But there is different types of this kit. The one i have is a 5 stage method. There is other options. Zymol is good. also Mequiars. Also using a clay bar is one of best methods for a base coat to get a great shine.

Claying is the required step prior to polishing. It removes the bound dirt that ordinary washing cannot. It is important to do this before polishing as you dont want to spread or smear any dirt into the clear coat as you polish.

I'd be more than happy to assist with the restoration of your paintwork.

I am certain now about what works on ***** clear coat now.

    The steps I used
    Wash (2 bucket method)
    Dry (sonus drying towel)
Clay (I prefer the Megs Grey with CG Quick Detailer as lube)
Menzerna Intensive Polish (medium polish) (and power gloss (most fierce) in places) on Yellow Sonus FX 6" Pad on the Porter cable - Slow cut method
Menzerna Final Finish on White Sonus 6" FX Pad
Chemical Guys Ez Glaze II - Blue 6" FX Pad
Chemical Guys Sealant + 3x Carnuba by hand. Megs M/F applicators -> Megs buffing towels
CG Hardcore Paste Wax by hand. Megs M/F applicators -> Megs buffing towels

Menz PG will remove upto 1200 grit sanding marks.

It took me a long time to get to the desired result - as my gallery will testify
    http://www.bigredvolvos.co.uk/galler...y_2006_CYC.htm

All that aside the thing I would invest in more than anything else is decent wash kit. A M/F or lambswool mit and a waffle weave drying towel.
No point investing in time and energy with fancy polishes and waxes unless you minimise the scratch/swirl risk - which mostly come from poor wash/dry technique.

Your cars is looking nice mate, i do like the Saffron colour

I had to clay bar mine as the last owner never waxed her i dont think and im sure it must have been parked under trees aswell, but fortunatly i only had to clay bar the boot, roof and bonnet, the side's where fine, but the grime that stuck to the clay bar was unreal, it looked like nicotine ... all yellow and horrible, although the difference is amazing im still not 100% happy though so another clay bar is gonna be getting done, and as Dave say's .. the lamb's wool mits etc make a huge difference, well worth buying.
