    exhaust specs

going to have a cat back exhaust made up, whats reccomended for performance? 2.5 or 3 inch will i notice the difference, also how many boxes do i need, wont be doing many long journeys so droning wont matter. also what sort of gains can i expect on a rica'd t5, currently running at 277bhp and 342ftlbs

    thanks

For performance go for a 3" system and if droning doesnt matter go for a straight through system

wouldn't have thought you would get much better performance as the cat is still restricting the flow, unless you have a racing or performance cat

I just removed the "suitcase" off mine today so all I have left is the cat, Sounds absolutely awsome Its a full 2.5" system and to be fair I cant see a 3" making any difference below 340bhp

I'm getting my digi camera back from service 2morrow pm, hopefully get a few photos of exhaust system 4 u, will put car up on ramp at work and take some detailed shots (fabricated hangers ect..) The only slight problem being that my oldest son now has a small `exhaust tip` shape burn mark on his ankle!! he's ok and i don't think it'll happen again! (child-lock!)

I see Tom you have got a bonnet mod that was made famous in MK2 Escorts running Cossy Turbos!! Have you put spacer blocks at hinges to lift the bonnet up and let the air in ..i tried that on the yellow beast at one point ..if anything it sounded ace !!!

ooops, you've found me out. but my mk2 escort was only a 1.6 . anyway the main reason i fitted the bonnet raisers (two 15mm nuts to widen the gap) was for santa-pod, my temp used to go up alot more before i lifted the bonnet! the exhaust manifold and turbo are both able to vent their toasty gases outward instead of into my engine bay
