Hi Andy,
I have a source for very high spec JE pistons and carilo rods. I have just put some in move with and r60 exhaust manifold, RC 750cc injectors, Walbro 255 pump, 3.5" straight through exhaust, Holset HX 40 super w turbo, 2.2 bar boost, all top side ported and flowed. Aquamist kit. Custom intercooler, remaped and boost controler. Custom drive shafts. custom diff and lsd. Oil and transmision cooler. Have got it to 540 WHP and they can go a lot more. Let me know if you need to get pistons and rods. The guys that have done mine are excelent and do a lot for F1.

What is the max power level are the rods are made for ?

Hi

If you want to put that much power through you car you need to do some serious handeling mods and structual mods, I can't belive you have all gone mad making surgestions of where to get parts from with out giving out tips on safety, except RT Mechanics who quoted,
"building a big horse power engine is only half of the story don't forget suspension/brakes etc need to be upgraded in a big way to handle the power corrrectly."

I am not impressed that you did not mention safety or even give out advise, is not the most important thing the safety of your members and customers? you just seem bulldoze your way through this site with out hardly ever a mention of it.

SO May be we should check out somthing called the Darwin Awards in the USA, its an award for the most stuid death.
Its a good reminder of what not to do!
A man walked in to an army surplus store, Brought 2 solid boster rockets from a Galaxy cargo plain, "these are used for 45 seconds to get a plane of the ground when its got tanks and so on in it".each one provides 70000lbs of thrust.
He then welded them to his car and strenthed them. he then found a straight road and of he weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeent.
They recon after he pased 300 mph the tyers melted and when he came to a small 5 degre bend!, he went straight across the desert for 6 miles at which point the car meet hill and just ploughed into it at over 450 mph, and remember he had no wheels!

So the moral of this story is safety first

What you have to remember is that there is a certain amount of driver responsibility that comes with tuning a car. In fact, we have customers who have upgraded the brakes and suspension on their cars and still nearly killed themselves through exceeding the limits of their cars and their driving talent.

It's the person behind the wheel that is ultimately responsible for how the car behaves on the road. We do advise when asked, but we are not going to tell our customers that they should not tune their cars without upgrading the suspension and brakes first. If the suspension and brakes are so bad that they are a safety issue, they should be changed even when the car is standard.

I Was not having a go at you or vt personaly but, was just making my piont that people should mention safety a bit more just like Russ from RT Mechanics did very early on, and it was posted as just in passing, not saying what to do or how to do it.
Do you not think that its a good thing?

You will have to forgive me where it comes to writing, as i am dislexic and strugle to find the right words to say let alone spell them, which brings me to my next piont, can you fit this site with a spell check?

Really? You weren't having a go?? I beg t differ!! Ultimately it is the responsibility of the owner of the vehicle to make sure their car is "safe". The tuners/suppliers do the job they are asked to do by the client, where necessary they offer advice on "safety" but it is not their responsibilty to make sure their customer's cars are up to their own standards.

With reference to them "bulldozing their way through this forum" I think you will find that they offer this forum good, honest, sound advice free of charge, they dedicate their time to helping our members where-ever possible and they offer us, and us alone, some excellent discounts and offers which benefit our members. That, is NOT "bulldozing" that's supporting!!

Did you not read my appoligy, and that i sufer from dislexia and find it very hard to write things, So there for they dont always come out the way they are ment to sound very oftern when other people read them.
so please dont have a pop at me like that, i found your post very rood towards me, if you read all of mine you would have seen it was a round about way in getting to a short story which was very funny and a well done for some one mentioning safety on the site, sorry if it offended you.

Sorry guys, only been on site for a few days and I'm already sparking off heated arguments.

Maybe It would have been better if I had said things differently, my reason for wanting to do pistons etc first is so I can move the car in and out of the workshop when I need to because it is taking up space that I need for my business. Then when I next get a slow period where I'm not working I will do the next stage of the work, which will be the brakes and suspension and work will go on until everything that needs upgrading has been done, only then will I look to get the final tune up done.

I am doing all the work myself but I'm not a mechanic and there will be certain aspects that will have to be done buy a proffessional.

I would like to have evrything done by march next year, so I can get it tuned and iron out any problems before I kick my cusains ass on the track day.

I would like to thank everyone for their advice and help with this matter.

I will be posting a Dyno and torque report as soon as all the tuning is complete. Iain Graham @ Perfect bore assures me that their Carilo rods are built for 700 + hp

Guys remember there is a huge difference between BHP and WHP. U have to make sure the guys doing your dyno can take all "factors" into account
