i was told by another member that the pads that plod use are volvo pads. apparently they are available from most dealers and reduce brake fade when sopping from a hundred and plenty.

local dealer told me the police spec pads are the same as the standard R pads they just have wear indicators, they also told me that northumbria police are useing the xc90 pads in there cars now and they only have s60 and v70 no xc90s

Not XC70 Pads? Northumbria have a few of them and they stop on a sixpence!

I was not happy with my brakingperformance and installed the original volvo brakes 'police spec' for the S60/V70. It is really good value for money.
    pics before and after:

    2001 S60 T5 - 3" ferrita downpipe - ferrita exhaust - - 'R' exhaust manifold - green injectors - 19T 300-70 - Bigger intercooler (42mm) - MTE custom map - Bilstein shocks - K&N -frontbrakes:320 mm 'police' brake's - Rearbrakes: CTF GroupN discs/Mevius Racing pads - subaru boost meter

Soon to be fitted: S60R Airbox, Aquamist
got plans for an LSD and spec 3+ clutch

dude, i take it the plod brakes are much better. Please tell me more, what sort of cost are they and did they go on ok, did you have to replace the calipers?
    What suspension are you running?

volvos60t5, part numbers and price would be really helpful.

Does that mean all the ex-plod cars out there are running these brakes?

    Thanks

    I'd be interested too.

Can you give an indication of cost vs. the usual 305mm discs? I see VADIS has a seperate entry for "police discs & pads" but it says it requires a minimum of a 17" wheel for clearance.

    Yep.
    My ex-plod P2 V70 has the super-sized brakes.

The pads (with electronic wear indicators) can be had from any Volvo dealer.

Looking on VADIS, it seems that there are two part numbers - one is for the LHS and the other RHS.

9485307 - LHS Police Brake Kit
9485308 - RHS Police Brake Kit

The brake kit looks like it comes with a new disc, new pads, new pipe & new calliper/calliper carriers.

I thought the plod brakes were bigger, still on standard Volvo stuff though.
