    Hissing brake pedal

V70 P2 2001, my brake pedal makes a hissing sound when returning bake to its normal position, like it has some kind of mini strut to return it to its usual position.

I havn't got down on my knees and looked in the footwell yet, so i don't know how te pedal works yet.

As i havn't owned a volvo before, i thought i'd just check here first.

It could be normal, but it could possibly be an air leak in the brake servo. You need to take it to a dealer or specialist to check it out. Pump the brakes fast when the engine is at idle. Do the revs change?

Update. There is a rubber boot where the brake pedal goes through the bulk head, behind the clutch peddle. With the boot pulled away from the bulk head, the hissing is constant (thaks to a mate who pulled it off).

After a day of hissing, i got down on my knees and clambered almost upside down into the footwell. refitted the boot and now no more hissing.

The thing i don't know, is is that right or are my brakes going to pack in anytime.

any P2 owners willing to pull the boot off to give me more info?
