    'disc'

hi all, whilst driving to work this morning the word 'disc' came up in the trip computer display, does anyone know what this means? perhaps its brake pads low? it not the cd player as there isnt one, only the radio cassette as i havnt had time to fit one. also the rear wiper motor stopped as well, it will just about turn if i give it a helping hand. is this a common problem with old volvo 850's (1995) and can it be fixed without getting another one? anyway thanks for any help.

The "disc" readout is a common problem, I think yhey all do it at some time, I think it's just the switch getting old? As for the rear wiper, they do attract dirt and grime and eventually seize. There is a 'How to' on here somewhere telling how to sort it. Just do a search.

    Here you go, found this.

Yeah mine comes up with 'disc' sometimes, I just switch it from say, 'ave mpg' to 'ave speed' etc and it tends to come back

i will give the strip and clean method a go on the rear wiper, is it an MOT failier as it is in this week, but the DISC for disconnected sounds a bit worrying, could it mean an engine sensor?

More likey just to be the switch, just give it a wiggle/push and it should come back

Also for the record, don't panic about the 'disc' thing, your car isn't going to breakdown because of this. It's just a flick between info formats and it's back again. 99% of cars do it and it's not worth the hassle. You could replace switches and stuff and within a few weeks the same thing. It's really not that annoying once you get used to it.

hello there i have the 'disc' problem also,it only flicks on for a second while moving through options.i thought it might have been to do with the cd player registering that the cd changer isnt plugged in then moving on to next option but mine dosnt have a cd player .if i got the origional cd unit and lead for it would the display be linked to that? not sure on rear wiper mine seems ok at the moment.

anybody got abs light poppin on and off ? wheel sensor ?

am servicing car soon any advice on good oil and can i upgrade the origonal spark plugs ?

    speak soon james
