    Anyone run a 2003 onwards V70R

Will deffo be buying a 2003 onwards model V70R in the next month or so, been looking at the volvo uk used car website & only 16 for sale in the whole country, my budget ideally is 18k but i might stretch to 20k if its worth it, they seem to start from about 17k. Do you get any problems with them ?

Also prefer auto but is the geartronic anygood ? can't believe the difference in 0-60 manual 5.9secs geartronic 7.7 secs, to be honest 7.7secs isn't exactly fast nowadays but 5.9secs is impressive for an estate.

    thanks Simon.

Avoid the geartronic in the new R if it's performance you're after, especially an early 2003 model because they had some transmission issues when they first came out. Get the manual and you should be fine.

Any colour you like as long as its white, thanks for the link, these are a lot of car for the money but an ex police car is not for me,i am not interested in getting a T5 it has to be a R model, although a T5 is a lot better value than an R but i have never been sensible with cars. Hopefully going to Hildenborough Volvo tommorrow to test drive a 2003 geartronic V70R.

Hi Craig (it is Craig if i remember ?) , i had so many pm's regarding my 3dr so i took it off the market & decided to hang on to it as maybe it was too cheap, has good spec, coilovers, 330mm brakes, pectel etc, got 3 sessions booked at ford fair next month & should be going to Donno also, might bump into you up there if your going, was also thinking of going to the ford show in Holland in Sept but not sure yet. My 3dr really only gets used on trackdays now, i'm only about 30 mins from Brands hatch but iv'e done a few now & its skinting me out as its not cheap, want to hang onto the 3dr for as long as poss but it might not be practical to, iv'e only got space for one car in my garage & its a pain to have the Cossie stuck in there all the time.

Test drove a XC90 the other week, D5 model, very nice but a bit slow, i think the novelty of a SUV would wear off after a bit, would get frustrated when i couldn't get past something ! Wev'e decided on a V70R 2003 on which i'm looking for one at the moment but their isn't many for sale ! Will prob still go for geartronic as i don't need my everyday car for santa pod !

I take it your going for an esc cos.

I'm at Croft Tomorrow and will be at Donington yes.

I test drove both and the manual is better. S60 T5 is IMHO better still

D5 issues can be sorted with a RICA remap - gives you alot more power to play with.

Ex-plod is never a great option, IMHO. There are lots of threads on it.

Went & had a look at a 03 plate titanium V70R at a main dealer but it was a bit rough tbh, the wheels had been painted the same colour as the car & it had very very dark tinted windows that looked sh*t, i can't stand black tinted windows completely ruins the look of a car, unfortunately it was a library picture on the net so didn't know it had tints, i will ask next time ! Didn't even bother to drive it, anyone know where else to look for a V70R apart from volvo uk used cars, autotrader & e-bay ? I'm even considering looking at dare i say it a E61 BMW touring (5 series) as i think its going to take a lot of looking for a V70R in the right spec & colour, deffo don't want black as it looks like a hearse & no flash green either, makes me feel sick everytime i see flash green !

Dont buy an R not from a dealer, you WILL need the volvo warranty on it they supply, some cars never fail but the ones that have tend to have a lot go wrong.
