Hi, I'm a new member wondering if any of you Volvoists can help me.
This week I bought an X reg, C70 2.0T,manual with 100k. Got it for a great price because it idled terribly and refused to rev beyond 3k at the time of sale.
I was told it was just valeted and had the engine steam cleaned and so I suspected a wet/corroded MAF and knocked almost a grand off the price. After taking it on another test drive a little while later thinking the MAF may have dried up before handing the money over, it managed very well to keep up with motorway traffic which made me think the maf may have just dried up ?
It is now running far smoother after 300 miles but definetely feels down on power and sometimes hunts around the rev range from 600-1200 rpm when turning it on.
So ladies and gentlemen, do you recommend I buy a new MAF and fit it or clean the existing one first ? Also what (torx?) screwdriver do I require to open the beasty ?
Also, having problems with the stereo (SC-901), at time of sale it required the code, which I got from my local Volvo dealer, the stereo seemed to scan for radio stations, reads tapes/ cd's with aplomb, but alas, with no sound !
Upon futher inspection and investigation (calling the previous owners up) it transpires an aftermarket HU was previously installed, at the expense off hacking the Volvo amp/ speaker wire to fit an ISO connecter.
WHY DIDNT THEY USE AN ISO CONVERTER !
So, does anyone have any ideas how to fix this, there seems to be a smaller headed cable not plugged into the amp in the boot, but because of its awkward position and fixing (how many bolts!?) and the fact I can't figure how not to bend the arial when removing the amp, I am going to leave that alone for the time being.
A car stero place on ebay has quoted me £50 me make me a ISO > Volvo wire up which I think is steep.
Ideas anyone?
Many thanks in advance to any replies, and to anyone who has just read all of this !
Regards
Nathan
