    Brake and power steering fluid

    Checking the levels, need some steering fluid so What fluids do i need?

    Can i get them anywhere or special volvo dealer only brew?

    you can buy power steering fluid from any good automotive store(i use slick 50 version with a stop leak agent in it) or you can use atf fluid as it is the same thing

    most importantly, what year is your car.. as if its around 2000> it may not be ATF, but a special (low temp) version.

    brake fluid will be DOT 4 brake fluid, unless its been upgraded to DOT 5

    i wouldnt use ATF unless the liquid in your bottle happens to be red.

    being a 2001 model i would guess you have the low temp PAS fluid, volvo part number 1161529

    Don't use dot 5 it's silicon based in the UK and can't be mixed with normal dot 4, dot 5.1 is the correct number.
