blower fan packed up on all 4 speeds
thought at first might be the resistor
however looking at the wiring diagram doesnt seem to affect all 4 speeds
just the first 3
all fuses intact
fan has not made any odd noises etc
any ideas ???

Have you checked the resistance of the resistor?
Hehe I'm slow tonight...it's bolted into the duct just after the fan

Looks about right, there should some chunky wires going to the connectors on it.
have you or anyone else been playing under there lately? only ask as when i had my new in dash kenwood screen thing fitted i soon noticed that i had no fan speeds at all. i thought it was too much of a coincedence that it stopped working more or less straight after having the stereo fitted so phoned the shop up and asked them had they been near the wiring... which they had. (they did offer to sort it but thought i might as well look myself)
i took off the glove box, and then removed the lower shelf section too, where i could see that the double plug connector going to the fan motor was missing from where it should be plugged in. then i looked at the HUGE loom they had fitted alongside the cars wiring loom thats in front of the motor, and the person who fitted the stereo had cable tied that plug into the stereos loom by accident. refitted it and all was well. may be worth checking to see that the connector to the motor is still connected if you havent allready?

not really checked any connectors to be honest at the min
as no one has been under there for a long time no reason to go there
the last time may have been when i had an alarm component changed but that was 6 months ago
any way i guess this is the offending item

2.4
2.9
so seems to check out
i hope its not the fan packed up
or do thoses resistance levels seem high
any more thoughts on what to check just gonna go check all the connectors now

For what it is and the faffing around you may have to do, I'd just buy another from a breakers and see if it helps(after all they cant be that dear).
lol ill just pull one off the other volvo tomorrow and start replacing bits lol
i have a harrid feeling its theactual motor though
can hear the relay clicking to cick it to speed 4
so dont think its the switch
guess it will just be trial and error
