Hi Biff, I have just come over too the dark side,got myself a V40 02 plate with 156k on her,
Just bought it a couple of weeks ago with a duff turbo but today found out turbo is like new after...
IIRC it's just a couple of bolts I have a spare somewhere let me look and it and I will get back to you,I Think it might be 3 bolts.
Could it be the regulator it sits next to the fan in the lower dash passenger side.
Martyn what year is your car? I have a V40 03 diesel with a power seat I can check to see if the motors are the same number as yours if you like?

I picked this little thing up cheap, FSH nearly top spec except for the winter pack.

Oh yes Pat it is,it was returning 39.6mpg on the way back from Poole,lovely car only things the car doesn't have are the winter pack and a sunroof otherwise it is top spec.
Put a deposit down on a V40 so now back in the fold, it's not fast but it is sporty.

It's a right PIA.it is knowing where all of the bolts are screws are but it is a dash off.
Egg crate grille and the external chrome sport lux pieces,and white markers would look awesome on there.
Just bought my first diesel S40 2003 151k on the clock,but i am keeping mine standard lol.
A clutch on these require a DMF as well normally,which will normally cost more than the car is worth.
The diesels are nippy upto about 80 then they seem to slow down lol,you could map it too 143hp up from 115bhp or am i thinking P2 engines again,the p1 might have only 110hp.

ABS will be your ABS ECU Craig,i remember changing the sensors on my Awd R and that has to be one of the worst jobs ever.anyway after i changed them fault was still there and it was the ecu joints.
So if you are more than capable of fitting a head,why aren't you capable of doing the basic of servicing i.e new tensioners iders and belts..people give you good advice and imho waste their time...

Oh dear. Get the fluid changed and flush it first but once they start slipping it's terminal only good thing for you it's a 3 speed so a really common box to find.
