Going out to buy an S60 SE D5 this week. Apart from the usual AA/RAC tips on what to look for on the car what is something I should be aware of when looking at an S60?
Most models I've had a quick...
No! What you talking about Willis!
I had the same a couple of years ago. We cleaned the throttle housing, checked the cable, idel speed control etc.
What it turned out to be was early signs of the MAF sensor going. I hope that it...
I have two roast chestnuts (more ginger nuts really) as evidence of ignoring the seat recall...
Ooooh, hot cross buns anyone?
Lance is crafty with his tyres.
He treats them like his underpants. :pants: When they're slightly worn he turns them around and then inside out - three times the wear! :troutslap
...
Get the codes read if you can - that should save you a heap of trouble over the long run.
If you want to clean the MAF then you can 'clean' it by spraying carb cleaner through the grill in the air...
RedB - result mate. I've scuffed my valance a number of times fudging ways of getting the big red bus up onto some blocks. Tired of paying the re-spray man.
No control?!
Ask my wife! I am fast away and across the finishing line before she even gets going!
You need LSD if you're that quick to get going and finish. trust me, I'm a thirties man. ...
NGK BKR7EVX work a treat in mine. And the ITG is my choice.
Almost sounds like I know what I'm talking about!
BTW once I'd done the Stage 0 and got rid of problems (MAF sensor and thermostat)...
I always like to go for the LSD myself. :nut: ;)
Makes the R far more intersting than a dull limited edition T5R (yet such common owners) ;)
R owners are - as we know and have discussed...
The temptation is to go for the full 308 but on cars as old as ours it makes good sense to be sensible and go 280.
Despite the desire to have the best you will _not_ be disappointed by the 280...
Not Gwaredd - are you just scaring me or is this a fact?
Should I not take out the wee-uns in rear-facing seats in the 850?
When I had a seat checked in my old Passat the child seat fitter...
Paco - absolutely agree. I did the same as you. I assumed that the good family car would accept both the Mamas and Pappas seat and the other cheaper one - but no no no.
I went further than...
I've had the 280bhp upgrade for 4 weeks now and apart from the smiles that the upgrade has induced I've noticed a big increase in MPG. I know that this has been debated before but I have no doubt the...
Tango DC
Good feedback and he is local so I'll give him/her a PM tomorrow.
Glad to hear that you've got your motor all sorted now - must leave you grinning form cheek to cheek. After I left you...
Rich T5 (biscuit)
Fair comment mate. I've spent a load on this 850 bucket since I've had it and every month it has been parked on one hard shoulder or another across the country. Sometimes with...
Right, MAF it is.
Does anyone know about this bloke in Nottingham selling MAF sensors on ebay? See Item number: 4569586646
At £120 it really is tempting...
Right! I am back in from the cold and I think - after all this nonsense - that the mAF is stuffed.
Tried running the engine at 2500rpm and that was fine (trickier to do than you'd think from...
DPA too busy and can't see me for ages (Dave is on holiday). Getting to VT is a bit risky as it is an hour away.
All the pipes I know about are connected and it runs fine _most_ of the time and...
On idle I removed the MAF and the engine died. MAF not so naf unfortunately. What else could it be?
Sorry guys! What was I thinking. She's a beautiful machine and - like all good things - takes patience. I was tired from a long long day and the kids were driving me nuts.
Adam - no fault codes....
Heap of crap. So frustrated. Surprised I'm not in the Spotted! forum today as I sat on the M1 hard shoulder for half an hour tonight trying to work out why the car runs beautifully all day then...
So apart from a Lambda light showing a potential MAF sensor problem does it cause running problems?
On the 850r there is an air pipe that drops down below the MAF sensor. What does it do?
I assume that it is part of the breather system but I need confirmation.
Working from the air box go past...
I've got a problem that comes and goes and proves difficult to diagnose because it isn't there when you take it to a garage (don't you just love them problems).
When my foot is resting on the...
