Has become much louder of late though the brakes work perfectly.
Am I right in assuming the brake booster has gone ?
Are the booster and the servo the same thing ?

I'm getting used to this 'eye' function thing but I simply don't like it.

On my previous car, a BMW 530i Sport I had an audible 'bong' if I'd left my lights on. The S80 doesn't have this facility (or has had it disabled) and I keep leaving my bloody lights on when I park...

I've just been out to investigate further and upon disconnecting and cleaning up the hose I can report that it hadn't melted at all but was covered in a sludgy sticky oily residue. The hose itself...

Not a pic of my engine.......but, its the large diameter hose that is melting against the silver coloured engine part before it splits in two...

As I'm unfamiliar with the engine, I thought I'd check here first to see if it's a common problem or whether the heat shield is missing etc....

My T6 front pipe seems to have melted slightly on a hot part of the engine.
Is there a more resilient aftermarket replacement, Samco perhaps ?
What about a heat shield ?
