I had similar issue on my 05 XC70 with plastic headlights.
I did find a company selling replacement plastic lenses but they were £90 each. New aftermarket headlights were £140 each.

Also, if your car is a 2004 D5 surely it will be a Euro 3. That means it won’t have a dpf. Just a TWC- three way catalytic converter.
You can unbolt the downpipe and wash it through with degreaser...
Sounds like a split hose or charge pipe hose popped off. Your guess is pretty good.
Hi
I’ve never had the A range faults. But that may be because you are using a generic OBD2 fault code reader and not Vida. Vida is more specific.
You could remove the turbo heat shield by undoing...
Hi
My 2005 XC70 D5 doesn’t have the upper guard pictured. It appears that these may not have been fitted to 05> cars but I’m not sure. Does anyone know? Or is mine just missing?

I recently had a failing injector. It felt like the engine was chugging a bit and felt like a misfire at times. The car didn’t throw any fault codes. So I researched the issue and someone suggested...
You could try a leak down test on the injectors. And if you have Vida check the fuel correction value in advanced ECM menu. This will quickly let you know if you have a faulty injector.
The transmission is cooled via the radiator. If there is an internal failure it can kill your transmission. So consider bypassing the radiator and fitting an auxiliary air cooler for longevity.
It’s interchangeable. I had a 1997 FWD P1 V70R which was hit in the side on a roundabout. I went to a generic Volvo breaker and picked up a new rear beam as mine was bent after the accident.
The lower headlight bolt is behind the bumper bracket. If you drill a 20mm hole through the bracket that’ll mean you never have to remove the bumper brackets to remove the headlights.

Try messaging opie oils. Their staff are knowledgeable and helpful. It ultimately depends on the viscosity eg 75w80 or 75w90 are most common. Hence I swear by Redline MTL or Redline MT90. Just be...
There’s also a one way valve built into the PCV banjo bolt on the corner of the inlet manifold. Probably not the cause of your idle issues but they can clog up and leak a small amount of manifold...
Hi
I can’t comment on the datalogging as I haven’t got my car plugged in to compare. What I will say is that Vida fault trace is very reliable. When a part is beginning to fail it will flag up as...
The rubber mount is a separate item.
Spot on. £20 per hour is the norm. Gets cheaper the longer you book, so 4 hours is £60 and 9 hours is £120 if that makes sense. Surprisingly you can get a lot done in just 4 hours because the access...
Hi Guys,
Had oil weeping from my angle gear for a while now and finally got round to fixing it. Lucky I had a spare angle gear in my garage which I split open and sealed up first with some instant...
Maybe I would have had to fit some sort of levelling sensor. I’m unsure, especially considering that my XC70 has nivomat self levelling suspension which automatically levels under load hence making...
It looks like the only viable option would be to buy the xenons headlights and headlight looms off a non R model and then it will be plug and play. Even if I did modify the wiring I’d still need in...
Thanks Lee, that’s a shame. I don’t want to be replacing the CEM, or installing any resistors. I wanted plug and play. As for the washers it has high pressure jets built into the front bumper which...
Hi
I’ve got a spare set of xenon headlights from a 2005 V70R with the looms and headlight switch. I want to fit them to my 2005 XC70 D5 however at first glance it looks like the loom connections...
Hi.
Just in case anyone gets this fault. I had it as intermittent and recently it went permanent. ECM 6805 boost pressure too high.
After checking LeeT5s post when he had this I also suspected a...
On a different note I finally got round to fitting my Provent 200 catch can today. I found a bit of oil in my intake pipe so thought I’d do what I can to reduce the amount of oil mist in the intake...
Hi Lee, fuel tank removal and refit is too much grief even when you have a 2 post lift! Instead I’m going to make sure I change the fuel filter annually with my oil service. It only costs a few quid,...
