I went for a T5 fully aware that it's a thirsty beast, so no (like most others here) I don't really care. Owned mine for about 4 years now and I still love it!
I do keep an eye on the trip...

Yeah, give it a good wash out with boiling water/washing up liquid - perfect time/excuse to do a rad flush whilst your at it (you'll need to drain enough at least to empty the header tank, else spill...
gotta concur - 4mm hex did the job for me. Kicked myself, as I kept putting the job off cos I coudn't find the recommended torx socket for ages.
Still a good price though- it's one of those tools...
Good news fella! Nice to know there are dealers out there that will 'fess up and look after their customers after they've taken your cash.
Glad you got it sorted.
Hey, £500 for a garage to change the rad?
If your at all handy with the old spanner set, I'd say save your beans and DIY. It's really not that hard a job to do - can be a bit fiddely with...
Had the same problem myself and had to change out the Rad, as per T5 Stealth. Not the worst job in the world to do - the Hanyes manual describes the procedure pretty well.
Forgot to include a shot of the other recent improvement, heard it's good for an extra couple of BHP's ;)
hmmm. same colour as my 854-nice!
Nice Columbias you've got on there - Beginning to wonder if I should have resprayed my Perfo's black now tho!
Liking the scenery too.
Have to agree, get the...
That's cos I've not done any close up shots! lol.
Cheers though.
I'll give the waxing a go Tomcat - any recomendations on what type of wax?
:)
Thanks guys, glad you like them. I also did my grill whilst I was in the mood (sorry no before pics)
here's a few more pics...
Finally managed to respray my Perfos :)
Not a 'factory finish', but seeing what they looked like before I'm a happy boy!
Photos...
Cheers for the comments - yeah should have mentioned my car is 'turbo red' (that's the metallic maroon colour like this one I just dredged off the net)
...
I'm going to be re-spraying my Perfos this week (can't afford a 'proper' refurb, but had such good results on my lasses Golf BBS alloys I'm happy I can DIY to a good standard).
Question is, should...
yup, I had exactly the same issue with my N reg 854 T5.
I replaced the radiator (about £120 through Rufe via the forums iirc) and it's been fine ever since.
The Oil cooler is on the left hand...
your nearly due one of these then :)

If you've done the PCV, it could possibly be the inlet manifold hasn't seated itself properly when you've put it back. Did you use a new gasket?
If my knowledge is correct, it might also manifest...
SCORE!
Just got home and checked the codes on the springs - They're for the Saloon model afterall and not the Estate version!
I can only suggest that you check all your Vac lines - leaks can do all sorts of weird and wonderful things to the throttle/revs...
I'm running 16" Perfo's, which I DID have the presence of mind to check before buying that they'll fit the 302s :) I know these look alot like the Columbias but I'm 99.99999% certain they'll go on...
Don't mind at all! :)
Going to fit the 302mm front discs I got at the same time first, Springs will be a little bit down the line, but given your comments about cornering (which was part of the...
hmmm, you guy's have pretty much confirmed what I was thinking - The Estate springs will either be a little bit stiffer at the back (it that a bad thing?) or that the back will sit a bit higher,...
Can anyone tell me?
Have a set of H&R lowering springs (35mm) from a 855R and just wanted to know for certain that they're gonna fit my 854T5.
Are the springs for an estate physically the same...
Yep, have the green bit of paper to prove it! Happy, happy days!
That probably explains why they don't do them for the 850 anymore!
In terms of pads, I've found EBC pads to be pretty good. I preferred the 'Green Stuff' ones (fast road), but apparently they don't make them for the 850 T5 any more :(
Next ones up are the 'Red...
