i've got a leaky one, just wondered how awkward a job they are to change
thanks for all the input.
turned out to be the bearing on the offside driveshaft
Speed definitely has an effect
Also applying the brakes seems to stop the noise
Checked pressures today as that had crossed my mind
Nearly new michelins all round
Well I've bought another Volvo after a break, and I'm already after a bit of advice.
I've now got a v70 d5 manual, I got it cheap because of a rubbing sort of noise.
The front discs were badly worn...
the guy who regassed my air con informed me that the clutch cannot be reshimmed, a new compressor is needed.
mine has started playing about and makes some odd noises when first turned on.
a mate of mine is an MOT tester, says this is very common on 850s and the like
I haven't got a tow bar.
Could be the flasher unit, but the noise is coming from behind the dash by the computer info switch.
when I use my left-hand indicator, it's started making a buzzing noise which gets faster with the engine revs.
It's driving me potty!!
Has anyone else had this?
Repair?
cheers
Why???
have you tried changing the settings on the side of the unit, I've got mine set the opposite way to what the manual recommends to get the best results.
are you sure you have the shock absorbers set in the correct position?
mine's in the boot and jumped at the first sign of any bump until I changed it.
thanks all
problem solved!
wire had become disconnected from brake pressure switch sensor.
I have found that the abs light on my car is not coming on with speed, but when I floor the throttle and turbo pressure builds up.
This started straight after a remap.
I've had the code read, and...
do your front tyres both have similar a mounts of tread?
uneven tread has caused this on previous cars of mine.
also you could try tyre pressures.
I have fitted the wheels Gary, they do look the part and they seem to have tightened the handling.
I had a strut brace fitted while I was at VT, which really helps with the torque steer.
went to volvo tuning yesterday and got a 280 remap on my 850.
blimey don't they go after !!
while I was there though the ABS and tracs lights came on.
they come on when you start up, then go off...
called them today, remap tomorrow!
maybe a strut brace too!
I've just read an old thread saying volvo tuning offer the 280hp upgrade to members for £250 + vodka and tonic.
Does anyone know if this offer is still available, as I'm looking to get mine done...
that's ridiculous. I paid £170 for an Alpine changer with adaptor, and that was brand new!
just bought a spare key fob off ebay, but it doesn't want to programme in.
does anyone know if there are different fobs for different year 850's?
cheers
thanks people
very helpful

I've seen some wheels on ebay which I'm interested in, but don't know if they'll fit.
They are 17" Tethys from an S60, and I have a 95' 850 estate, which has standard suspension.
Can anyone tell me...
Thanks for the advice people.
I will probably go for the pipercross as I live close to Kalmar Union, and he's quoted me a good price for one.:B_steerin
I'm looking to replace the standard paper element with a foam one, but which one is the one to go for?
ITG?
K and N?
Pipercross?
I'm also planning on a remap in the near future, should this...
