Especially under a hard launch or hard acceleration when the back end squats, just when you need the best possible cooling. Sounds like it could be a lot of problems and hassle to me.

To further what monkey said, on a purpose built turbocharged engine you shouldnt need to mess with the compression ratio, generally the only way you would do that would be to alter the pistons/bores...
"Phew, good job we put the fire out, what shall we do now?"
"Erm... massive burnout?"
"Splendid idea!"
I believe there was an article in practical performance car a few months ago where a guy built an older model estate (maybe a 740?) with a long mounted T5 and rear wheel drive. It did give details as...
wow, not looking to go that big with it on this engine but respect to him for that
Wasnt that rich, of "richmod" fame that did that?
Realistically im looking to be hitting 200-230bhp...
Does that rev counter come with a spade so you can make a sand castle?
Seems every big power turbo car has to have half the windscreen obscured by a rev counter the size of a wall clock
Other...
When you do the change, run the engine for about 10-15 secs then check and top it up, once you run it round the engine and fill up the filter the level with naturally drop depending on engine and...
yeah ive had a good look around on there, some good stuff.
I consdered a t4 when i was deciding what to do with mine, but in the end i decided to keep it simple as far as the swap was concerned as...
Ah right thanks, did you catch his username? would be good to keep in mind for hitting my target as ill need the boost limit taking off at least.
Currently running a decat, MBC and air filter on mine, no chance of getting a richmod ecu nowadays i dont think but i believe you can run them on a standard map to 200bhp if you have the boost...
Thanks, im always tweaking or fiddling with something on it so there will be plenty of updates.
Also ive set myself a target of hitting 200bhp in 6 months so plenty of updates to come there too :)
Edited images out as it doesnt seem to like imageshack links
It started out in life as a bog standard 440 1.8GS, bought for 200 quid with 80k on the clock, not a bad purchase i'd say.
Same colour and wheels as this but didnt take any pics of mine before i...
yeah theres no question a T5 would leave me standing on a good run, and it was just a quick test run to see if the camera would fall off or not really
I'll start a thread in the projects section tomorow with all the pics as i documented the complete swap from start to finish
Originally it was 11.4 with the old engine, but a standard turbo is supposed to be, 8.8s, again taken from parkers.
Fair enough, parkers seem to think the standard 850 T5 runs 7.5s which is around about what the first run was in the video. Still, not bad i'd say :)
Just set up a questionable rig (iphone attached to the steering wheel  ) to film a quick 0-60 run after i finally got the moody little beast running properly, and based on the book times for...
Ah right didnt know it was a common thing. I should have checked it when i first did it.
The reason i found it was i took the feed pipe off the fuel rail and put 12volts to the pump and it was...
Problem now sorted :)
Not a wiring problem at all, turned out to be something much more stupid.
When i changed the fuel pump i also put a new filter on, and the pipe unions for the fuel filter...
A quick search on demon tweeks shows they specify "saloon model only" and "estate model only" for 850 lowering springs, so it would seem they are different.
I suspect its a wiring problem, theres 4 wires to the pump so i suspect its not getting a signal from one of the relays, tomorow im going to find out which the main feed wire is and hotwire it to get...
Ok another update, just done a fuel volume test as i dont have a pressure tester. The fuel pump should be running at 2.5bar at tickover which is enough to supply 1litre of fuel every 30 seconds....
Well the batteries fit perfectly but still not sorted the problem by removing the recirc valve unfortunately. Turbo still fluttering too so obviously not that that was causing it as id hoped.
Ah...
Haha, thanks for the tip ill do that :)
