I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the pistons and internals are mostly identical on the b230ft/fk? They both have the same 13c turbo but The only real difference is the actuator. One set at 4psi...

Did the later t5's (99' onwards) have VVT???
Sorry for the late reply guys!
To be honest I havent driven the car since I first posted about it last month. I'd like to get it sorted as hopefully i'll be taking the car off his hands when he...
Morning all,
I've been given my dad's 99 v70 T5 for a few days to change over his headlights as the old ones were so dull Im amazed he saw anything at all in the dark! I couldn't help but notice...
Have you fitted an oil catch can? Could be worth it for you.
When I fitted a 15G to my b230fk I had very little teething issues as the boost was set not much higher than what a 13c could achieve!...
Depends on your budget? I used an ebay MBC similar to this; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TURBO-MANUAL-BOOST-CONTROLLER-NOT-A-BLEED-VALVE-/220537042109?hash=item33590834bd:g:CYkAAMXQDnpTYh-Q
No spikes...
It's well worth doing for the cost involved! As some have said, you will need a boost gauge initially to fine tune it to the desired boost psi.
Just remember to buy black silicone hoses for the...
A good way to go like you said;
15g or even 16t turbo. If your budget can stretch a garret t3 fits well :)
T5 injectors - gets rid of the resistor pack at the same time
Stainless exhaust
960...
I've wondered myself how easy/difficult it would be to T6 one of these! Any been done in the UK that anyone knows about?
IIRC there is a demand for the m90 from the V90 for the boys who want to drop a T5 into and older 240/740/940 series car. Could be worth hanging onto for the time being!
Hi mate, not many 200 series guys on this forum. Possibly best looking on volvoforums that have a specific 200 series section?
To answer your question, not heard or seen one tbh. would it need to...
Would be interesting to see what bhp my ex plod P3 D5 is?! I'd like to imagine its still 185 as it doesnt feel that quick, but isnt slow either! I'd like to think that a remap would unleash more...
Good choice! I bought en ex plod D5 from expolicar.co.uk last year, an early 2009 model so still only the 185 single turbo. My budget couldnt stretch to the newer twin turbos!
Dont get your hopes...
You can always use the whiteblock T5 engine, quite a bit more work involved fitting it but its been done a few times.
easiest and cheapest option is a b230fk/ft swap, m90 box and a host of upgrades to turbo 18/19t and so on, T5/VXR injectors. This will see you close to 300bhp with reliable and cheap power.
I've...
Without sounding chav-ish, is welding the existing diff an option?
I wonder why there's so little for the 940 as they can't be all that different from the 240's, or modified easily to fit?
The thought of a proper diff on my 240 turbo is nice! But the thought of the potential cost is not!
We (the mrs!) have a 2006 185 D5. On a decent motorway run at 70-80mph the computer shows 52-53mpg. Around town high 40's.
I wouldnt worry too much about the DPF unless you do a lot of short...
Good choice! :) It depends what your plans with the car are?? Keep it standard and as a daily driver or modify it??
Youll find theyre very robust cars!! Rust can be a pain and estates can suffer...
Nice! Welcome to the 240 club!!
Turned out the problem was the boost was set a little bit too high! The ecu and MAF were having hissy fits trying to cope! Turned the MBC down a bit and its running much better now!
On the...
Just to let you all know she is now finished and on the road!!! A couple of small jobs to do, but nothing major!
It's set at just under 1bar of boost at the mo, its got a slight misfire at full...
Arent there any retaining washers/bolts on the bottom cups on the 940 like on the 240? Which are a pain the undo!
So tonight involved swapping my classic swede shocks n springs from my glt to the SE, oh amd the wheels! So now she looks like this! Only the exhaust and a few niggles under the bonnet to do!! :)

Only did it the once :) as the lambda wasnt wired aro nout it wouldnt idle, im glad it started at all to be honest!!
