I had the same thing after having aircon regassed, just gave the float in the tank a good prodding up and down with a screwdriver and the light went out. Figure it had been disurbed during the work...

Dont think there's a shoter aux belt, I think you have to buy a pully for it that just goes in place of the compressor.

Shouldn't be a problem, I did it to my 99 S70. All that was missing was a fuse in the fusebox, of course it was one of the ones that you cant see normally. (37 I think)
I sanded the chrome back with a detail sander to make the paint stick, took some doing thats tough stuff.
Having already broken the badge and slash I then carefully removed the brackety bits...
The next step of course is to break the badge fixings while taking it off/ putting back on.
