Tell me about it - hitting the rev limiter, or my favourite which was stalling as you pull to a stop and forget there's a clutch you have to press now :-)
I think it's made even more weird by the...
Hi James,
excellent work - hope you're pleased with the result. If you're anything like me you'll be glad the job's over but happy with all the new things you now know :-)
Cheers, Pete
Hi Steve,
-15in hg sounds wrong to me for idle, sure mine is -20 or lower ( can't remember right now). That would still point to a vacuum leak of some sort by the sounds. Any way you can pressure...
Hi Niles,
what did you do to make the black 'cage' between the polybushes fit OK over the yellow bush I did a trial fit of mine the other day, and either I'd have to cut some of the black metal...
Yeah I think you could do cruise on an 850 without too much hassle if you wanted to.
Pump under the battery tray, relay, wiring, vacuum hose, 2x pedal switches, throttle movement linkage, stalk....
Nice one, taking apart gearboxes is on my list of things to mess about with.
Not a lot holding the engine to the subframe with no geabox attached, is there :-)
Cheers, Pete
I don't think the 2.5l necessarily has a lower final drive. The 10v one is I think the M56L so will have, but the 2.5l 20V M56H gearbox I put on my 850 had the same final ratio I believe.
Agree...
Yes, I think I've seen a few people do this. You want to do it right though, as if it's not up to the task, you don't want to see what happens as it lets go :-)
Can't seem to find a reputable...
Hiya,
it's a fairly straight forward job with Volans. I used:
new brake hoses (the 16"+ braided Goodridge ones)
same calipers
same pads
302mm caliper carriers
302mm discs
Hiya,
those look like Pegasus wheels, and they look genuine to my untrained eye. Are they? If they're genuine they're 8J wide, if not they'll be 7.5J
Either way, I found it a bit too much for...
Hi,
don't know about the alarm I'm afraid.
If you mean the car's been chipped to increase performance, no I don't think there's any way it could reset due to a flat battery.

Looking nice Walter, were there any out-of-the-ordinary fitting problems, or just the usual stubborn bolts etc.?
Cheers, Pete
I don't belive the cruise control vacuum lines are connected in any way to the vacuum/boost lines affecting the engine, so you can actually rule those out (unless you're cruise is knackered). They...
I've only had a quick look at the diagram but I can't see how it's going to work, I keep thinking it'd need at least 2 connections, in and out.
Don't think it's something worth shelling out for -...
Yes.

If they're 2nd hand tyres it might be worth checking the manufacturing dates. I got a 2nd hand set of Pirelli P-Zero Assimetrico with loads of tread left but was very unimpressed until I twigged they...
I had mixed results taking my auto on dynos - two were fine, two couldn't do it. In each case I rang ahead to check it would be fine, but still ended up with 2 wasted journeys :-(

I found I needed a decent set of 1/4" bits, as getting onto some of the inlet manifold bolts was hard with my chunky 1/2" set.
Not sure you need jack/axle stands/chocks for the PCV but it's a long...
Hi,
I had RT Mechanics replace both the no.3 bushes, no need to replace the whole rear subframe assembly (unless you want to). It's not a job I fancied doing DIY as I've heard they can be a pig,...
Hi Colin,
if you mean a 302mm brake kit, yes Volans will clear.
If you mean a Porsche caliper with 330mm S60R disc brake kit Volans will only clear with a 16mm spacer in my experience.
HTH,...
Hiya,
£500ish race cat downpipe
£300ish 2.5" cat-back exhaust
£50ish free flowing panel air filter
And spend the rest on a map would be my advice I think.
Gets you somewhere around the...
Hiya,
sorry to hear it was a pain of a job, I've been there and even on an FWD it's "interesting" access to the turbo and manifold!
Great fun working on these cars, eh ;-)
Cheers, Pete
Hi,
I bought an aftermarket wishbone and put polybushes on it, then had to replace it less than a year later I seem to remember, as the balljoint was shot. Now I'm running genuine ones.

Hi,
Camskill have the Kumho Ecsta Sport KU31 for £57.60 each - any good? Can't see any cheaper ones I'd rate, personally.
