After fitting an new IACV to the phase 1 S40 T4, the idle is now spot on.
However, she often needs a bit of throttle to start now, only since the IACV was fitted. She used to just start, now more...
Just to update, I bought one of those ones from partsdome on ebay.
The car runs absolutely spot on now, idle is perfect, no dipping of revs or hesitation.
Very nice purchase :-)
Cheers, that is good to hear, they have one listed on ebay today but it doesn't cover the T4 it seems, does not mention working on the 1.9:
...
Chris, any update on your ebay IACV?
My car has been running high and a bit jerky and stally, it is most definitely time to replace the IACV I think.
Curious on how that ebay one went for you...
Wow, didn't know they existed, brilliant! Do you know if they are difficult to get up and running?
I put my 1998 S40 T4 in for a full set of new tyres at the weekend and told the guy to track the car as it had a pull to the left.
He said the camber was out but it is not adjustable on the car. ...
Hello, I have an R plate S40 T4 and decided to carry out the compulsory IAC valve cleaning out that the phase 1 needs every so often.
Everything is well except when the car is warmed up, the idle...
I shall get one bought, anyone know the best place to buy one quickly, do halfords stock them?
Oh that is brilliant, enjoyed reading that! As a T4 owner myself, I'd love to go that far and make it that powerful but having gone around that far with a car before and having all the hassles and...
Just wanted to confirm my suspicions on a problem with my car to see whether my theory is the same as people with way more knowledge!!
The car, 1998 S40 T4 has been running cold for a while now...
Thank you all for the comments, very useful and has convinced me to enjoy the noise but to let it stay on other peoples cars!
Sorry for being a bit radge earlier on, I wanted it to be a serious...
I tried this last night and even with headlights in the always on mode and not actually switched on by the switch, my high beams did flash.
I was more leaning towards saying that by asking about compressor surge noise, I've had a stupid duck noise back so am assuming that to the masses, any sort of noise is stupid right?
Old vid LOL, I'll skip that I think. If I wanted daft responses I'd have posted this in the off topic section rather than the modification area cheers.
Well, I've seen some pretty serious 200sx...
I'm sure this will be an old chestnut for some people and always seems to be a bit of a grey area as to the effects of it.
Basically, I like this noise:

Yup your problem is probably that you're just using the 'always on' headlights. To use things like full beam and fog lights etc, you'll need to manually put the headlights on.
That is astounding, looks like a different car at the end!!
With a report like that, surely there is no argument unless he has spent the money and trying to wangle out of it.
That's a heavy report, feel for you that you are in this situation and hope it...
Spot on, didn't know I could go to ignition and then back to I to disable that, thanks for that tip :-)
Radio reception isn't great in my 1998 S40, I've just about given up with radio and just use CD's instead now. I figured the electric aerial musn't be up to much.
Just wondered what the official facts are about the central locking and what it should do when you are in the car.
Basically, this lunchtime I was sat in the car having some food. My keys were in...
A friend of mine is going to look at a 2002 S40 TD this weekend, any advice for him from anyone knowing about the cars?
I could only offer him general S40 advice and with limited experience too so...
What did you apply it with in order to not get any on the paintwork anywhere?
Nice one, will give that a go and see how it comes up. I'd be happy for it to be black, just figured it was born grey and always going to be grey!!
