If I peer up I can just see coolant beading on what looks to be the cylinder head. Centre of this picture. That was after nunging some foil around the pipe (which I removed for the photo) 32682
Actually there is no leak when cold and not run.
I might try wrapping the metal coolant pipe in foil and seeing if coolant appears on the bottom of the manifold (when run). If it doesn't, then...
Thanks Dave
Would it be reasonable to say, that having cleaned coolant off the bottom of the manifold, if it reappears there again without the engine running, the source can not be the metal...
Hi Dave,
Thanks for the picture.
Here's some photos:

I'm fairly sure we can exclude the turbo water pipes as they are visibly intact. Also the top right (on photo) connection...
Hi All,
I've got a water leak at the back of engine.
When the engine is shut off when hot, a hiss is audible from the rear of engine. Water is dripping from bottom of exhaust manifold, but...
Just an update as I think I've cracked it.
I got an O ring for both pipes, green is "in from PS pump" brown is "Return to Fluid Reservoir". The brown was the likely leaker as it was moving about...
Hi All,
Losing fluid from around where the pump and return hoses connect to the rack (nr steering column)
The return pipe feels very loose going into this joint although the pump hose feels...
Hi All
V70p2 estate 2005.
Noticed that right rear outer shoulder is bald. Rest of tyre ok, and others seem to be wearing normally.
Car was 4 wheel laser tracked about 2 years ago.
Is it...
Hi Woz,
That's perfect - thanks very much

Hi Woz

I found this post in another forum : https://www.thevolvoforums.com/threads/power-window-switch-for-850.5657/
which implied the switches can be serviced from above. This is partly true,...
Hi All,
My passenger side window switch (centre console cluster) only works reliably in the down direction. Until now it has been intermittantly working going up (with a bit of fiddling), but...
Just to close this one off....
It was indeed the Ns front wheel bearing. It became more obvious as time went on that the noise was louder under braking and cornering right.
Cigar to LeeT5 and...
I was wondering about the rears causing some kind of acoustic illusion. I will check them out.

Even with the sound not changing from cornering to the right?
It's related to road speed, not engine RPM. From about 35+.
Cheers

Hello
Looking for some advice on a whining noise (sounds like tyre noise) related to road speed coming from LHS (NS). It's been noticeable for a while, but got much worse after car was left for 2...
I persevered with my poor mans's relay unit and got to a working state in the end.

Yes that's still an option. There are similar kits on ebay for £100 ish.... but I've got this 3rd party kit, and it would be interesting to know how best to fit it so i can make a decision about the...
Hello
I have a standard 7 way bypass module to drive trailer lights via a 12N connector. Similar to what is described here: http://www.towsure.com/fit_a_multiplex_bypass_relay
I understand I...
Meh. No I did read the instructions and went into that with my eyes open. It seems none the worse for its ordeal... better as already explained. Obviously one wouldn't normally do this.

Heh, I know, but it felt the right thing to do at the time... and seemed to help. I'm assuming that it's very difficult to know if the oil pressure is low, other than seeing the red oil light (which...
The noise appears to have gone. I wanted to be sure, before posting back here, but I haven't heard it since Sunday.
What did I do on Sunday? Put a can of engine flush in and went for a few power...
I've changed the thermostat. Noise still there.
Had a bit more of listen with the stethoscope. It's loudest still on top of the thermostat housing, but I suspect that's because of its shape...
