Can I run 225/45 tyres on my 7” Comets?
Couple of 2wd autos have changed hands for 3.5k with 160/200k miles on eBay recently.
Problem solved with the purchase of project Black Bess (the wife named it)32512
Loving it so far, don’t worry the R’s not going anywhere soon.

Well update, done four trips with her now and getting used to how to drive with the van on and she’s averaging 17mpg which is the same as she does round town.
When you look at those pictures it is hard to believe. I suppose I should replace the turbo oil return line seal?
Heat shield is already off, that’s been off for a while! Which way is the right way with the gaskets?
Found the broken nut/stud laying on top of the manifold of No1 cylinder.
Got to do this job soon as at least one stud broken and blowing, any hints and tips would be welcome from those that have done this job? anything I should look at/replace while I’m at it?
Cheers ...

Hey thanks for trying Dan,
About that, be careful with the vac tree on the thottle body, it's only plastic and getting old!
Thanks Mole, I'll give him a try.
Thanks Dan, serial number I need is 9162675 your car may be too late. Is it Mystic Silver 426? I'm after a mint tailgate and rear bumper though I think they might be different on an XC?
Think I ran mine through a large grommet on the drivers side near where the thottle cable fits, as I remember there were spare holes in it.
FYI don't use this guy, mines come back with a permanent fault light (only intermittent before) and he's not been very helpful at all!! Feel some negative feedback coming on.
Anyone know of a...
Hi Roger,
Don't have an answer on the roll bars except that there dam expensive over here, but if we only need the rear not too bad!
As for the tyres I switched to 215/45 shortly after getting mine...
Started getting ABS/Tracs light slow to go off and then getting a buzzing from the pump followed by the lights coming on while driving, so I sent my ecu off to be repaired and its come back and now...
Still got issues with my ABS even after ecu repair so what kit do I need to read the codes?
She's all back together and it was a lot of work but front end is so quiet now! no annoying rattle and sqeek from the passenger side and feels more planted with the subframe inserts.
Another item...

The reassembley didn't quite go to plan?!! Steering rack bellows looking a bit dodgy and with plenty of room to change them with the subframe dropped I took the opportunity, also changed the front...
WOW what a b***h of a job they are!!! The bars off, old bushes removed and a fresh coat of paint is drying off in garage. The crash bracket round the steering was the bigger!!
My rear subframe...
