If you've owned the car from new, then you're always going to take a massive depreciation hit when you sell it.
The only way to not take that hit is to never sell it, or at least, delay selling it...
I'm now at 186k miles and still going strong.
Components that can wear out, do wear out and get replaced. Where feasible, my policy is to replace worn out parts with their "uprated" equivalent....
I think you'll find that used electrical components won't work on a different car anyway.
All "network" components are keyed to the individual car when installed for the first time.
You can't even...
That's a good tip!
Wish I'd known about that before I paid Volvo to replace the passenger door lock five months ago.
Do you have the actual fault code so I can look it up?
You tend to see "Emission System" messages when there's something with the engine, like a boost leak.
The engine control unit is also the...
Have you actually read the DSTC fault codes?
It is quite capable of telling you exactly what's wrong but you'll need someone with a fully hooked-up Vadis system to read the sub-system fault codes.

Cool.
No phase2 V70? That must be one of the most common newer models out there.
And can you put an option on the site to mute the sound!
Is it an ex-plod S60?
If so it probably has self-levelling shocks. In that case you can't just fit lowering springs - you need to change the shocks for normal ones.
If your car is ex-police, then it likely has self-levelling shocks. Mine did.
To get the rear to come down, you'll have to fit regular shocks instead.
I like the next-generation V70 although you can see they've borrowed styling cues from the V50.
However, I'll have to wait 5 years to have one until they retire out of police service.
Excellent pictorial how-to. Well done.
I might have a go at that.
Do a search for "police spec brakes" on this forum.
Yes, but could you stop it again with the wimpy standard brakes?
Or get a set from a breakers...
(It wouldn't cost you much more to buy an entire P2 ex-plod)
Yep.
My ex-plod P2 V70 has the super-sized brakes.
The pads (with electronic wear indicators) can be had from any Volvo dealer.
It sounds fascinating if you can get it to work. Basically, it's free power.
For the T5, I think you'll need to have a good chat with someone who really knows how to program the ECU to work with...
If it's a ex-plod, then it's very likely to have police-spec brakes. ie. 320mm disks, different callipers and pads with electronic wear indicators.
If that's the case, you'll find you have no choice...
"I'm attempting a lane change on the M25. Prepare to lay down covering fire!"
Hitch it up. It might deter tailgaters on the motorway!
The SRS warning light comes on if you disconnect the heater/air-con controls without disconnecting the battery first. Don't ask me why. In Vadis it does warn you to disconnect the battery.
Just...
Get the code read and then lookup the fault in Vadis or whatever.
It's possible you disconnected something when fitting the engine. In which case all you'll need to do is reset the code.
Or you may...
For that reason, I'd be very suspicious of an ex-plod with a low mileage, anything less than 120k in four years.
I heard that the poilce pay about 14k for a V70 T5. That's still more than 10k...
Lol.
I have Volvo sun blinds on the rear passenger windows to protect my young sons from the sun but it also means other traffic can't see them. Sometimes I deliberately wear a white shirt, wait for...
