Just thought I'd post the conclusion to my problem for future reference :)
I removed my original white sticker etm and sent it off to lucas at volvo diagnostics for refurbishment as the cost of a...
Hmm I wonder if it's worth giving mine a good clean first as from what I can see from under the bonnet, it does look quite oily and manky? If the mechanical contacts are worn surely cleaning the...
Ok thanks I'll make some enquiries.
Any tips on changing the etm as it looks like a bit of a pig to get to!?
Evening all,
After eight years ownership and 50k virtually trouble free miles, my car has thrown a wobbler!
It's a 99 me7 T5 with 174k on the clock.
It went into limp mode and both the ets...
Mine had Nivos on the rear when I first got it, used to sit really high at the rear! When I'd had enough of it looking daft, I fitted 40mm lowering springs all round, ditched the Nivos and fitted...
Sorry mate but I genuinely 'laughed out loud' when I read that bit! Its the kind of thing I would do! I can just imagine the expletives when a load of green coolant came pi$$ing out everywhere!

I wound my actuator in a bit on mine, it now boosts to about 14psi with no probs :D
This sounds very much like one or more of your dashboard mounting points have broken.
Have you tried tightening the four 10mm bolts that are accessed underneath the scuttle panel under the bonnet?...
No, if you leave the car overnight, then do the job in the morning before starting the engine, the oil will have drained back in to the sump and you won't loose a drop :)
@ andybrown
By the way, your sig is ace, makes me chuckle everytime I see it!
I had this problem a while back and fitting a new o ring and gasket to the oil retun pipe fixed the leak, mine too was leaking from where the pipe goes into the block, made a right mess too!
The...
Wow, Just WOW!
That has to be THE most stunning example of a V70R I have ever seen, absolutely perfect from every angle.
It looks immaculately kept too and is a credit to you sir!
Not sure if this is relevant to your car as you've not said what year yours is?
These Autodata diagrams for a P2 V70 T5 might help though,
Fuel pump relay is number 28 highlighted in red

Yeah as long as your gearbox is an AW50-42 four speed then Dexron 3 is fine.
I can't stress what a difference it's made to the WHOLE operation of the gearbox, not just the probs I was having with...
Bit of an update...
Well I finnaly got around to changing the atf this afternoon, I ended up getting just short of 4 litres from the sump alone, then disconnected the top hose to the atf cooler...
My car just had the one huge "suitcase" silencer, I removed it and had a straight through pipe put in its place. So from the cat back, I had no silencers at all!
It sounded bloody lovely, but was...
Ha I think at 150k it's just getting started!
I changed the oil and filter recently and noticed there's virtually no wear on the camshaft, well at least on the bit I could see thru the oil filler...
After over three years of virtually trouble free T5 ownership (touches wood!) I have reached 150k.
Still drives like it's got 50k on it, here's to the next 150k! :D:D:D

Thanks allot for all your input lads, it's very much appreciated.
I'll change the atf when I get chance and report back!
What a great place this forum is, I don't usually post that often but...
Thanks for that, but it does it at any speed from 50mph up to...erm....70mph!
Stupid photobucket!!
Right, try again..........!!
I have attached a quick video I made this morning...

Yes I read your thread with great interest Martin!
Including the one where you took a chainsaw to your faulty dim in 'revenge of the skint'!!
Quality video that mate!
Yes, car on a level surface, atf up to temperature, cycle through each gear for a few seconds and back to park, engine still running and its bang on the max mark on the dipstick.
Maybe Andy is...
Thanks for the replies lads, most interesting!
Martin, my gearbox is the last of the 4 speed AW50-42's with just a 'W' button as opposed to the three sport/eco/winter buttons. I think it's...
