Check the dizzy cap as they fill up with water after hitting flood water (best to replace if it's anything other than in perfect condition), also check the airbox and make sure the filter is dry.
Sounds like you do need a new maf, they should be changed at 100k anyway. You've possibly got an air leak somewhere so would investigate that, also I'd thoroughly clean the tb and replace gasket and...
The cost of a shem map isn't much more than a forge uno.
My 850 has the same problem, think it mite be the one way valve that goes into the servo, looks discoloured/burnt due to heat. Haven't tried fixing it yet though as my car is in the naughty corner...
Think there maybe an arrow on them but if you know where to look you can tell they are LHD, they do have to be changed for MOTs. There good for us when we're abroad though.
I replaced the glass lenses on mine and it made a big difference. The new ones are LHD but even on UK roads they're much improved and they don't point over to the right as much as you mite think..
For the misfire it's likely to be plugs and or dizzy and rotor arm, these are service items, plugs are 15k -20k miles I believe.
I'd be interested in your project thread, I'm also a peasant T5 owner.
I order all my parts for FRF Volvo Swansea on C3 account (forum discount). You just need to provide reg number, thats all they need, 302 setups use same pads as 280s. Changing the PCV is one of the...

Awesome! Will look forward to that update.
Making good progress, looks well for being lowered. I like the winter preparation mods, would you go as far as fitting big spot lights?
If your just buying lowering springs you mite find it sits down abit, if you purchase a kit (dampers and springs) you'll probably fine. Ive never had problems with mine even 4s up and a boot full of...

Looks like a fun project!
When this kit going to be ready Stephen?
As above i'd clean first, although would use dedicated maf cleaner.
Would just stick with a panel filter. In general few induction kits offer any gain, usually end up decreasing power.
Regarding oil and filter, i use a genuine filter plus washer and 10/40 Magnatec. Capacity is 5.3l.
28.1
Thats very impressive! Ours will do a good 35mpg gentle motorway driving or 28mpg 100mph+ motorway driving.
Really like your car! Always look forward to updates. Its so refreshing to see an 850 T5 being thoroughly maintained and kept mostly standard. Are you attending the Cosford meet Kmb?
Change the cap and arm as you said and would also change the plugs, all for genuine parts, patent stuff is ££££.
As said ferritas are pretty quiet.
