I miss my V40. Had hlm remap that made a great difference. Rear calipers I used to wind back with the pointy ends of long nose pliers :-)
Enjoy the car mate.

I've tried a few things. Best gains are from a remap and a decent air filter. The turbo on mine with remap boosts over 30psi according to my boost gauge. That is before my current unfathomable total...
Where's the waste gate? There's the vacuum plunger on the turbo working fine when I blip the throttle on the drive. I thought that was what controlled the variable vanes inside the turbo. Am I...
As in the title. Boost gauge only showing a small negative pressure when revving. Variable vane actuator moving nicely so vac system is fine. Turbo is spinning nicely. No leaks in system. I'm ...
Just ordered two new front wings as mine have rotted just behind the front indicators. How hard are they to fit? Any hidden bolts/fasteners?
Thanks in advance.
Engine running sweet as a nut dipped in honey and the in sugar!
now just got the bodywork and fuel lines to do. oh the joy of bodywork!
but at least the motors still pulling l;ike a train producing...
Cheers nobananas.
Crank pin worked well enough. Belt had no markings. Just took a guess as to timing being one tooth out. Hit lucky. Aux belt pulley is out of line though and needs to be replaced.
YAY! I got the timing sorted. turns out it needs to be one tooth forward (clockwise) of the centre of free play. noticed however that the aux belt pulley is sitting on a strange angle. it is pivoting...
Righteo after three years of neglect my car is turning into a shed. noticed that belts and brakes needed doing so I set out on the job last weekend (9 days ago). Brakes done and unseized new pads and...
Rear bushes as already stated check shocks at the same time. but probs just the bushes given the tyre wear.
If not the solder joints there's a small unit behind the glove box that controls the fan speed. it looks like an oversized diode or a small battery and is silver in colour. had to replace one on my...
I had heard that the 40 was the first vehicle to use the floorpan used in the Ford Focus, not sure how true that is though. It does share some suspension bushes with mitsis tho'
remember having bother just fitting my eibach springs. the top mount needs to be aligned correctly or the bloody bearing pops out of the seat.
looks good mate.
rust behind front indicators. listen for clicking when turning the steering wheel as the top shock bearings can be bad. also the interior blower can be faulty. it's not the motor but a small control...
If you're removing the timing belt (which I think you need to) then yes, you might aswell do all belts at the same time. and tensioner is recomended with the belt.
Had mine for a while I agree it's the best place (see http://www.vpcuk.org/forums/showthread.php?t=15769&highlight=mods)
Does anybody know what the valve is for in the brake system of a T reg D5? It's attached to the bulkhead and it is leaking. Just wondering what it does?
O.E. Discs and brembo pads imo:D
brake binding? bearing tight?
could be the turbo seals gone. this would allow for oil to burn.
On an '06 v70 2.4D 5cylinder. fault showing as spiral throttle con rod??? what is it? where is it? can i do it?
Talk to Hamish on this site he's the man in the know sorted me out with a remap that puts me into the 145bhp region. also still getting good 50+mpg.
PM me for his number.
Probs just a dirty fuel filter. cheap and easy to replace. I just done mine and back into the 50mpg range now. cheap supermarket fuel really isn't worth it!
Sorry I should've stated it's an '06 5 pot diesel V70 with automatic gearbox.
how hard is it to replace the front lower mount? does it also have a rear lower mount?
