TBH mate your garage hasn't got a clue what they're on about... I hope it was the YTS lad that came out with that useful piece of wisdom, the synco is on each gear and allows the smooth intermeshing...
The good thing about buying the likes of stephenevans99's old car is you'll know it's been well looked after and you can check on any past problems where as one you're buying off Ebay is an unknown...
Sorry mate but I'd have to agree to your first thought, the chances are the head or the block's cracked (classic symptoms... engine heats up then the crack opens and passes water into the combustion...

It varies dependant on the car

It might be possible to replace the broken wheel but...
I'll leave RT to help you out with this one as he's the Volvo specialist but out of curiosity did the noise go away for a short time after an oil change?
That's deffo a hydraulic tappet with an oil starvation problem, I can understand why everyone has said just throw a set of lifters in and it should sort it (I'd have said exactly the same) but as...
Just had a mooch through that lot (all 964 pages!) it's amazing some of the stuff u can get for these things... (and I'm a bit dumbfounded at why they'd put nivomats on the C70?) there is a few...
Nice one for that... I was just looking at the exploded view you'd posted up on the other thread and thought 'there's the ARB kit down the pan too' :)
I'm going to have to do a few revisions it seems :(
Cheers
Ian
Is the shock setup totally different? (I've got a set of GAZ coilovers too from a non AWD and was wondering if they can be adapted)
An adapter kit for a standard set of shocks? or special shocks?
