That is a VERY big Blow Off Valve (BOV)/Dump Valve, much bigger than the picture makes it look since there isn't a scale... Ask me how I know, please :)

Manual boost controller raises the maximum amount of boost your car will use. You can raise it a little without ill side effects, but too much and your factory ECU will not be providing the correct...

I would recommend an aftermarket box or something, because reducing the size of it will also limit the flow (depending on the design) where as an aftermarket style will allow the same amount if not...
On turbocharged cars, having less backpressure is not an issue unlike on an N/A car where it needs it...
Cutting out the box and replacing it with straight pipes will definately make your car...
