As the engine in my R has just about had it I'm going to be replacing it with a 2003 Me7 motor out of an S60, I already have the engine but I need advice on what I need to do to adapt it to the older car. Any advice would be appreciated as I'm waiting to fit it next week.
I'm guessing a 2003 S60 wiring harness would be a good start.
Difficult swap, I have tried it the other way round and the problems come with the two different sets of electronics between the main car and engine! I suspect you would struggle to set the diagnostic systems up in case of a problem....
I suspect the easiest way would be to use the pre Me7 head on the Me7 block and keep the pre Me7 system but I am guessing you want a complete transfer?
Failing that I would try and find a Me7 70 classic and steal the entire wiring loom fuse box etc.....
I’m not actually using the Me7 systems, I’ll be adding the older inlet manifold,throttle, dizzy etc.. Basically converting it to run on the older stuff.

Apparently so, halfway through the conversion at the minute so I'll let you know in a few days what actually needs to be swapped. Currently got the turbo plumbing sorted, the engine mounts, just need to confirm the fuel pipe routing and then adding the distrubutor and cam sensor etc..Quote:

Well it's in and running, just need to finess the details like getting the engine covers to fit, sort proper routing for the fuel pipes and bleed my clutch.. Hoping to test run it in a couple of hours.
clutch bleeding....good luck with that Craig, my last attempt on Gul was a nightmare to get bled properly
Done!! Was a bit of a pig but got there in the end.. Took it for a spin, it's REALLY quiet.. Not sure if I have a minor leak from something somewhere, stopped the car for a minute in the rain and was left with a lovely rainbow under the car when I moved it. Not really pushed it yet to see what it goes like.Quote:
