I bet that's actually quite annoying

It would almost seem like it, though more likely to be 19 years of reaction between steel and alloy, then not helped buy lack of access and those stupid flange-headed bolts that appear to reduce the amount of surface area that the socket has available to it to drive on
I'll make sure it's something I loosen off with engines if they are ever out.
Awesome work its always a pleasue isnt it working on things that havent been touched since new
I'm on the miss that car list as well, but to see her getting out to shows and events is great. I only did minor things at her: driver's seat back cable fix, heater blower motor, heated rear window/mirrors relay, antenna, strutbrace, glove box hinge fix and I can't remember...................
Glad you got it all sorted but don`t use copperslip as copper and aliminium corrode you are better off using alloyslip :)
Right, time for a small update and as most will know by now the Gul is back on the road and just back from a good blast around the Evo Triangle.

The alternator was stripped of it's old regulator pack and a new one fitted.

All bolts were cleaned and a light smear of grease applied (taken on board Rob's comment on copperslip and aluminium but didn't have alloyslip available at the time of reassembly) the a/c pump was left off, as sometime in the past the a/c rad was removed and the pipework cut, so no point in refitting it a present. The alternator was refitted and the 2 offending 12mm headed bolts were replaced with cap headed bolts with the thinking these would be easier to remove should I need to remove them again in the future. A new short non a/c poly-vee belt was sourced and fitted and the ecu box reassembled and bolted down again, wiring and battery all refitted and all good to go. Next job will be to fit new suspension all round once a few more replacement parts arrive.
if you want to find all the car's history, fill this form in and send off a fiver.

Thank you Colin, I think this was also mentioned earlier in this thread and would be a simple method to find out more and why and when the reg changed.
Well got a little bit of work to do as the front brake caliper has decided to seize on and the inner arch lining need replacing..
But on an up note the Gul is on the Retro Rides 2014 official video (2.40) going up the hill

Brief but neat appearance!
Right as I'm about to please wifey by completing her long awaited new kitchen and get my garage pass back, I'm now in the position of get ready to fit the Koni FSD's and Eibach springs, I have got new top mounts and bump stops for the fronts and was wondering if there is anything else I should really replace whilst I'm about it or anything I must do whilst fitting the kit to make sure the set up is correct as I'm bound to over look something
Anyway Adrian, I might be after buying Gul back after getting Nautic back. I really need my head looking at for selling my Volvos.............but I look forward to seeing her(and Jayne and you) at the meet.
