MOT time next week, and I need to change the warped front discs. Are the MTEC ones worth a go as below?

Ive got them but tbh when im ready for new ones I will be going back to standard discs
There just not worth the extra cost they go through pads quicker, noisey when braking and tbh they over heat just as quick as the standard discs
The drilled and grooved ones make a sort of clicking when you brake as the pad goes over the grooves
i had these discs Mark and they were awesome with Ferodo DS2500 pads, never had any brake fade at all but as Pete and Frankie both say they do make this clicking noise which is normal for grooved discs
I stuck with standard Volvo disc's and mine have been fine.
I have these on mine and they are good. There is no clicking but they do make more noise when braking, hard to explain the sound but nothing that would bug you.
The groves do not improve the braking when new, the advantage is as they start to get older. The cuts wipe the pad face clean and keep the surface nice and flat. Normal discs will wear uneven and leave groves and ridges on the disc.
The drilling does help with cooling but if you are pushing the disc to its heat limits then the drillings can allow cracks to start around them. The chamfered edge does usually stop this happening and I have not seen any cracking around the drillings on the M tech discs.
I use MTEC discs and they're brilliant, obviously drilled and grooved do wear pads out quicker but they work so much better, with cheaper discs they'll crack around the drilled holes but the MTEC ones seem to have the best reputation for being reliable, I'll definitely use them again.
I've got standard volvo discs & ferrodo pads, I'm yet to get brake fade & they have been given death on a few occasions.
Not braking late enough then biff ..... ;-)
I use Brembo discs either solid or the last set were called 'Max'. They have a funny groove pattern on them. I liked these because the groove ment the pad was in constant contact with the disc when braking resulting is less shudder.
My completely unscientific logic on grooved/cross drilled is that they my reduce brake fade at high temperature usage, but surely with less contact means less performance for the average road user. To get best performance from a grooved/drilled disc you have to go to a larger set up..
Again completely unfounded justification, but I haven't really researched it that much.
Main investment has been very good pads. My 2001 V40 doesn't actually list DS2500 for it, so opted for a older pad from a 98 with about 5mm less inner edge. They still worked a treat and survived much abuse..
