Ive got them but tbh when im ready for new ones I will be going back to standard discs

I stuck with standard Volvo disc's and mine have been fine.

The groves do not improve the braking when new, the advantage is as they start to get older. The cuts wipe the pad face clean and keep the surface nice and flat. Normal discs will wear uneven and leave groves and ridges on the disc.
The drilling does help with cooling but if you are pushing the disc to its heat limits then the drillings can allow cracks to start around them. The chamfered edge does usually stop this happening and I have not seen any cracking around the drillings on the M tech discs.

I use Brembo discs either solid or the last set were called 'Max'. They have a funny groove pattern on them. I liked these because the groove ment the pad was in constant contact with the disc when braking resulting is less shudder.
My completely unscientific logic on grooved/cross drilled is that they my reduce brake fade at high temperature usage, but surely with less contact means less performance for the average road user. To get best performance from a grooved/drilled disc you have to go to a larger set up..
Again completely unfounded justification, but I haven't really researched it that much.
Main investment has been very good pads. My 2001 V40 doesn't actually list DS2500 for it, so opted for a older pad from a 98 with about 5mm less inner edge. They still worked a treat and survived much abuse..
