I don't think given the size of the original you would notice much if any difference.
I originally questioned the location behind the ac condensor but most thought it of no real concern.
A mbc for around £30 would make a vast difference though!

Unless you were looking from more than 340bhp a uprated cooler wouldnt be needed, yes the standard cooler are massice but are very thin approx 25mm, where as an uprated on would be 50-60 mm therfore doubling the capacity of a standard cooler, so could cope with over 500bhp!!!
I noticed a slight difference with a larger intercooler on a standard car but only in the pick up at higher speeds when it was to some effect, however after getting the car moded im more than sure that it helped a good bit!
when i start modding the my car, that will be the 1st mod i will do, once the warrety has run out!Quote:

Thats a nice looking motor!
Im sure Carson has mentioned an aftermarket unit.
Volvospeed did a group buy and they were not cheap but twice the size of the standard I/C.
hi,
i should have said in my first post, my 850 t5 is already fully sexed up with a 19t, 3 in d/pipe miltek zorst and rica custom mapped, just wondered if a larger, by larger i mean thicker intercooler would help.
thanks for the replies. :remybussi

I would say yes definately, on lower speeds say below 40mph you probably wouldnt notice any difference and may even notice a bit more lag due to the larger volume but at higher speeds i.e with good air flow on the intercooler you should notice a performance advantage due to the lower intake temps.
