Door Barrel removal / volvo 850 1996

On this example, its the offside front door,

There is a Square ish plastic cover in the end of the door above the catch, this is held in by 2 weak plastic tabs.

Prise this off and shine a light inside the hole, you will see a little slot, this is a spring clip,

Insert the door key into the barrel of the drivers door lock, and turn it half a turn as if you were locking the door and keep it there.

With your other hand put a slim flat bladed screw driver into the slot of the spring clip and twist it either way doesn't matter, whilst doing this pull the barrel with the key, give it a dam good wiggle mine was very tough but it did come out.

On the end of the barrel there is a flat with to pins in the end. This locates into the door catch mechanism.

To refit, put the key into the barrel and with the flat vertical push the barrel back into the door and it will just clip in. Very easily. and that's that.
