hi all,
this was going to be a moan about the t5 not working but has been revived to a yay i fixed it thread!
a couple of days ago i obtained a free forge recirc dv blanking plate (cheers tyron) when i fitted it, i stood over the engine and manually revved it by hooking my finger under the throttle cover, you know how it works.
it sounded great, im a fan of the chirpy chirpy cheep cheep sound so was well pleased, till i drove it! :frown:
it felt bloody awful, no go, slow to spool, and less boost, i was gutted!
i checked and replaced most of the vac lines and blanked any i didnt need, i just couldnt understand it, so reluctantly i changed it back to standard after only 2 hours, a pain in the arse job but made simpler by ratchet spanners.
off we go again for a drive, but to my dismay its the same, flat as hell,
so over a couple of days i mope and complain to every one who would listen, must have disturbed something, kinked a pipe etc.
been back under the bonnet today to triple check every thing, all ok, no leaks or probs, till i pull the throttle cover off to re check the vac tree and find that the throttle cable is hanging off the cam/spindle to one side,i had inadvertantly unhooked it when i twisted the spindle without tension on the cable, hook it back straight and off for a drive and guess what.....
IT FEELS LIKE ITS FIXED!!!!
i must be a right nugget, i caused the fault then couldnt find it!:slap:
so when fault finding, be sure to check the less obvious things that seem not to be related, i would never have thought to check it but found it by accident.
thanks for sticking with a long winded thread, got there in the end eh!:dunce:
james.
must get tyron using the forum he has a remapped 850 t5 with a hybrid turbo and polished n ported head etc, friggen rapid it is!
by the way ill be putting the plate back on then not revving it like a kn*b!
