Not the usual auto gearbox issues??
Hi all, new to the site and new to Volvos and already looking for advice unfortunately. [emoji3525]
I have a 2004 S80 D5 Auto with 200k miles.
The issue I have is the gearbox is showing signs of ‘flaring’ I believe from what I have been reading online at least.
1st-2nd seems not bad but every other gear after that gives the sort of false neutral feeling and the revs rise but feels like it is not in a gear. (Very similar to a slipping clutch on a manual gearbox)
If I ease off the throttle it will change up a gear and it does so smoothly with no nasty bangs etc. But it does this constantly from a cold or warm engine.
If I hold the throttle to the floor the car changes gear as normal through the gears however.
I have bought a b4 servo kit as a hope it may solve this issue but has anyone got any advise or experience with this happening as it’s not the typical b4 servo problem I read about I think.
I also intend on doing a sump dump and replacing some of the fluid as I am going to be under the car anyway.
Thank you all in advance for any help/assistance.
George.

David P…..
I mean the link you posted previously, I don’t think that is the same gearbox as I have.
As far as I am led to believe the gearbox I have only had a filter which is internal in the gearbox and not the easiest to get to….
Happy to be proven wrong though.
I have the AW55/51 gearbox.
B4 servo cover was changed about 2 weeks ago along with draining the sump.
Cheers
