0-30 may be ok for a newish R and that long life castrol aint cheap and maybe too thin for an older phase 2, DPA uses 5-30 fully synthetic Valvoline for phase 2s
Older T5s Phase 1s seem to like 10-40 magnatec.
I run Valvoline fully synthetic 5W40 (SynPower) in my T5. HLM tuning put me onto it at the 100k service and 40k on, I haven't used anything else. It very rarely needs topping up and I am very pleased with it.
ive always used 0w40 either mobil 1 or castrol edge mines on 150k it it does use half a litre every few thousand miles but i prefer it this way as the oil gets abit of fresh oil between services. just out of interested how long are people going between changes?
Here are the official oils that volvo/castrol recommend for your car in case it helps you, heres a portion of an image i made before to help show which one looks like what-

OPTIMUM Protection – (2) Castrol SLX Professional Longtec 0w-30
STANDARD Protection – (3) Castrol SLX Professional 5w-30
(note, excludes vehicles with 18k service intervals, and excludes 'R')
