someone has to try and see what the standard turbo can do and then push then envelope a bit more
To right, his time won't be as hard to beat as yours mate....lol
best run was a Avon and 14.52, she has run better but not against the clock sadly, so I have to get it spot on for the next outing, no room for the annoying misfire I had at york,so slowly changing one component at a time till I nail the problem
see you hid your HID balast in the same place as me. Great minds think alike.
Well cracked the 10v gearbox open this evening and was pleasantly surprise by the limit of the damage, but will have to replace one part I hadn't bargained on, one half of the case.....Damn
For those who've not taken one a part before, it is relatively easy, the selector roll pin needs knocking out and the selector removed, then lay the box on the bell housing flange and remove all the casing bolts and carefully prise the case apart, rotate the big gear selector as you gently lift the casing of and it should come away easily.

And the damage

So I will be having to replace a few cogs and half of the case, that will teach me....don't forget when you've drained your new gearbox of oil, as this will happen in approximately 30 miles if you even get that far
Think I did about 7 on an empty box, didn't like it very much but then again the m59 likes eating it's own innards :)
Well a bit more progress made this evening, not too sure on a couple of the bearings on the layshaft and reverse/fifth hub. The gears on the top of the input and layshaft both are a bit hammered, but that is only to be expected as they appear to have been trying to convert the layshaft bearing rollers into milled swarf, of which a large proportion was caught on the magnetic disc in the bottom of the gearbox.

Certainly been munching do you have another box Adrian
I have a spare m56 box with standard ratio's, Pedro has kindly offered some internals from a 10v box, so it is just a case of moving them here and finding a spare case, as I don't really wish to have to strip the spare box if I don't have to. A swap of the crown wheel and pinion swap isn't as straight forward as you'd think on these boxes, as you need to swap 2 pinions (1 on the layshaft cluster and the second on the reverse/fifth gear shaft) so a bit more stripping and swopping would be required, but then I would lose the lower 1st and 2nd gears if I swopped the final drive into the m56 I have here
Looks complicated...
Is there a prize for spotting the difference between the 4th and 5th pictures?
I think picture 5 has James Branstons cousin in it:

I've not seen Mr. Branston for a while Colin, you haven't cut him up and used him for bracing have you?
To put it technically, that's ££££ed.
