The main reason to have a afr gauge is not just for setting the car up but to be able to monitor the car and how its running say some thing goes down and leads to running lean with out one all that money you have spent is gone without you knowing at least with a gauge you could be able to prevent it.
Just think of it like a boost gauge if the boost drops or raises you know some thing is wrong and can be inspected where as is you dont have a afr gauge you wont have a clue till its too late
