I did have some info on that stuff, I'll have to dig out my backups and see if I can find it.
AFAIK the viscous coupling is sealed and shouldn't need maintenance other than replacing when faulty. There is also the freewheel device connected to it which should disconnect the rear wheels under braking (and I suppose should allow you to turn the back wheels when jacked up, though mine doesn't I think it may be fubared)
I've had her on the road for a week now, other than a vibration/juddering on turns, a front end drone (angle gear sleeve ??) and a small lack for grunt this car has amazing potential, phenomenal cornering ability and amazing stability, absolutely love it, just got to improve it and it will be the prefect daily hack....:)
Yeah, they do hang on :)
I used to get a vibration after a long drive (usually after driving a couple of hours to Llanidloes and turning right at the island in town), didn't find out what it was, seemed to come from the middle somewhere.
Got to be careful with the sleeve as they didn't epoxy it to the gearbox output shaft like they did with the later ones so it can possibly wear the gearbox splines too :(
Well major problem today, a petrol leak somewhere by the fuel filter, had to cut short my travel plans today and attempt to get her home asap, luckily I was running on lpg, but the tank was near empty so it was going to be which will run out first, as the petrol was pouring out and wasted approximately 4.5 gallons in a 25 mile run ......ouch, but being a Volvo she got me home, in the 9 Volvo's I've owned only one has failed to get me home (albeit twice in the same car) so not to bad a day in the end, just a little costly using two lots of fuel to cover the same distance
Fingers crossed it's something simple mate
