Your not having a good year, if you were closer you could work on it here. Drivers side is the hard shaft to find, may have to change cv joints.

Bad news TC sorry to hear
Thanks guys, yeah its been a bloody awful year. I'm going to get the funeral out of the way and then see where I stand once the dust settles, I need to find somewhere I can work on my car, I may even look for another place to rent but this time with a garage.
As I said last night Craig, if you're really stuck for tools/somewhere to do the work, give me a shout.
Shame about your tools, like. Something very fishy gone on there.
Don't want to speak (too) I'll of the dead, but I know things weren't good between the two of you toward the end.
Love to you and Jess.
Well, been a while since I last updated this..
Since we last spoke the insurance company have decided they're not going to honour the claim because I never told them I wasn't living at the address any more, the fact that it's my house, my stuff and my wife (Kinda) was still living there apparently had sod all to do with it..
Car has been running like the proverbial swiss watch for ages however it still had a few niggling faults that I wanted sorted. I had managed to obtain a decent S/h driverside driveshaft to replace the clicky one on mine so being as I still had no tools and no where to work on it I booked it into the local indy to get it done. While it was in I also asked them to check the Thermostat because the car wasn't warming up properly.. Dropped the car off on the morning of my last day off, shouldnt have taken more than a morning to complete, when I rang later I got told it wasnt ready as they had needed to order a new thermostat housing due to both bolts breaking while they where trying to remove them and then the housing splitting in half????????? while they where trying to drill them out. In the end a quick job took them three days (ffs and I wonder why I do these jobs myself usually) I eventually got the car back and bar one of the front wheels working lose (the drivers side oddly enough) everythings as it should be.
I'm now in an odd position as where I thought I'd be losing my old house (due to having it taken back by the bank) I may now be getting to keep it, going to court on Tuesday to try and get the repossession put aside. If that happens then I'll be fixing the old place up and getting it sold so I can start again somewhere new.
Future plans for the car though include replacing the turbo...AGAIN.. to hopefully finally cure the sodding smoking issue and also getting a custom exhaust made up with twin exits
Well the cars bitten me in the ass again.. noticed upon leaving work yesterday with the window down that the gearbox is whining its tits off in first and second, I only replaced it a couple of years ago. If it is knackered then the car will be coming off the road until I can decide what to do with it, dont really want to sell it but I dont have the time, tools or money to start another full on rebuild at the minute.
In the mean time I'm going to start looking for a replacement daily
Manual or auto TC ??
Manual bud, I managed to get a replacement M58 last time but tbh it's just not lasted at all.. more than a bit fed up of paying out for replacement parts that are already worn out and hence dont last.
I'd try and find a low mile m56 and stick a gripper or quaife in it, or even an m66 for a newer option....:)
M66 all day if it's playing up tc. Different car with 6 gears.
Sorry for your loss dude. Hope things start to look up for you.
TC you menioned m58 is your v70r an awd I thought yours was 2wd? ?
Cheers Biff, yeah its been a really crap year or two. There's tons I want to get done but I've no tools and no where to work on it until I can get moved back into the old house, that's a little way off yet as I still need to try and get the kitchen replaced some how.
M56 or m59 with the viscous coupling are the fwd normal choices or an m66 if you fancy 6 speed option
