Awesome news Dave
Happy days mate :)
Could be back on track sooner than september then Dave ???
Trial fitting of my BBK (WP brakes from ShemTek) need some work but I think they will do the job & look the part once services. Uses 330 disks from the XC90.

Sadly they do not clear the 7.5J alloys I have & I think I will need spacers?
Hi mate, did you decide on a map, if not speak to Shem he's got some interesting news indeed.
Anti-lag ? Nls? Datalogging etc. It's all ready via Shem.
:)
Anti is interesting from a drag racing perspective but I am worried how it might shorten the life of my exhaust housing/ manifold. Mapping I was thinking Shark as they are quite near to me. Data logging is important. I would have used yours if I had not had so many technical challenges with the engine.
Just noticed the brakes, are the calipers not too small for the disc on that picture? Ie pad not fully covering diameter of disc?
I believe this is part of the compromise of using those cheaper XC90 disks. I had another try on the other side with wheels that were in better condition. The comets still shave the inner side of the caliper, but it does rotate - so I believe the setup with a little fettling will work or I could just get the proper bells/disks. We'll just wait n see.
On a brighter note the engine is down and out - I can begin the strip down tomorrow time & weather permitting.

Yup - See Shem
The logger is now built in-to the flash tool, but I'm fairly sure you could get you a separate one, depending on the owner consenting, then there's Shark of course.
Basically speak to Shem - he's got access to everything inc custom mapping, ME9 very soon as well.
It was bleedin' cawd last night but with the moon and the stars overhead I cracked on regardless. The block is pretty much stripped (I gave up when it got to 1:30am). Separation was not easy as I was trying to keep both half shafts in the gearbox with the rear gear box engine mount still bolted on. Simply not possible I found and I had to relent and take the long half shaft out - and all for 3 pound bolts in the hubs (my mind is funny that way).
Anyway it is split now (took ages on my own) & just have the clutch & flywheel to remove.
There has to be an easy way to mate & unmate the gearbox right?
I am probably going to leave the sump on and let someone else deal with the contaminated oil/grey crap in there.
Then I think I need to finally decide who to use to do the engineering work.

On a less depressing note I have bought the ATP housing & ultimate collector with internal W/G for the GTX, AEM V2 kit for water/meth injection, lightened flywheel from Kalmar Union. I will need a new friction plate as the sachs one has no damper springs.
I also think this time I will get the engineers to tap my turbo return in the sump so I can use flexible return.
Going to get my cleaning on - with all the bits that came off the block. So tonnes to do.
Tips on remating gearboxes on your own would be appreciated.
As for tips for the gear box ide a case of big balls it's easier to do it in the floor like the engine is now than when the engine is in the car.
Clean the locating pins up slide the box on and get the two top bols in then do the rest round the sides and remember to fit the bottom ones when the engine is in the car or lift the engine with engine crane and do them then
Could you not rig up a few suitably placed blocks of timber, stand the block on it's end and drop the gearbox onto it that way?
Would need draining though, if not already done.
I think I will keep the scrap block, remove the crank ladder section and make it into a coffee table.
I quite like it when stuff starts to turn up...

Nice Dave just re fitted mine tonight
The BBK I bought means that I may have to increase my wheel size. I have acquired some Federal RSR in 18"
Just wondered what you thought of these Y spoke alloys? I would replace the tragic wheel centres but I thought these had an element of polestar about them??

Look like TSW Venoms :)
