Early P2 mate - be careful. It's not had the DIM done yet, there's also the ETM to think about but the pegs, zorst, £14 ebay air filter and most of the rest of the car are worth a bit so it could be worth £2000+ if broke.
if your budget is big enough get the later 2.4. they never fail.
always thought the 2.4s had a smaller turbo on
DIM (drivers information module - speedo) is known to fail on the pre 2004 models. Cost me 732.50 to replace :( ETM (electronic throttle module) is a known problem on pre-2003 cars causing stalls, rough idle, flat spots etc. Again - expensive to sort. Many early P2 cars get scrapped for these reasons.
the 2004 - on 2.4 T5 cars have a KKK24 turbo which flows a lot more air than the 16T unit in the older P2 T5 lumps. But they're not without their foibles.
I think im defo going to look at it just would love to no what that red stuff is on the passenger seat
well ive messaged him just waiting for a reply now
I'm not saying scrap it if the etm fails but imagine old Doris having trouble with her V70, taking it to a dealer and being quoted some astronomical price to have the ETM changed, or being told £750 for a speedo...
Check there's no weird stuff going on with the speedo, have a look at the ETM - look for Bosch printed on it, not Magnetti Marelli, plug a code reader into it if you have one etc, etc.
Personally, I'd leave it well alone but that's just me speaking from bitter (and somewhat expensive) experience.
Don't do it. Why do you want an estate with a turning circle the size of an oil tanker anyway?
If you have to go for the 2004 T5 (with the 2.4 litre lump). It tunes better.
You think the C70 is bad - just you wait LOL.
Fair enough if you need the space - but really try for the 2004 onwards - less gremlins more power.
And there's the comfort and safety you get with the P2 as well.
I'd still avoid that one tho ;)
