mine had to be cut to pieces, when i fitted a new one(R):duck:
think id rather not go about cutting it to bits,.. surley they must unscrew or something :S
u have to be built like he-man to get it off it's a mega tight fit probabley better using a junior hacksaw to chop it in half
haha so they do jus screw on?
well that answers my question for my dads V70 d5sport!! thanks dude. still stuck on my own 850, vadis is tellin me it screws off and also to cut it off!!
oopsy didnt realise theres 2 threads lol
haha no worries man,. like i said my dad isnt too keen on the leather ball above his selector (like that first picture) and wants a custom one putting in place
To get mine off, I had to use a hacksaw to cut the bottom of the gear knob away from the square part at the top of the gaitor. Then using a hammer and chisel to strip the hard foam of the gear knob to show the plastic inner core. Back to the hacksaw to make a split in the pastic all the way down, and use the chisel to prise it back.
The problem is that it isn't screwed on, there are 2 sets of 4 plastic grips that sink into the metal gear shaft, and I couldn't find a way of getting to them.
And i thought changing my auto was hard :D
