dodgy one to answer really mate but about a 18mnths ago i picked up a 2000 x c70 t5 in silver with approx 120k on,very good nick for £1400!....sold it just over a year later with not many more miles...

james,you can just use a hole cutter on the vent if you want to leave some of the fins there,i did with a gauge on my old t4(looked like a pile of £££££e like!)

more than likely to be the blower motor mate,had the same problem myself,easy enough to change as well.
