TBH mate your garage hasn't got a clue what they're on about... I hope it was the YTS lad that came out with that useful piece of wisdom, the synco is on each gear and allows the smooth intermeshing...
The VVT is a PITA if you don't know what you're doing... You need someone who specialises or really knows their way around Volvo's to set it up

He's right though they are quite easy :)
there's one on each corner (2 top & 2 bottom)
it's the opposite way round... the V50 centres are smaller than the V70, you could get them reamed out (I've got a set on mine :smirk: )

Sony stereos have yellow and red wires that are interchangeable (on the piece of loom that came with the stereo) swap them over and it'll sort out your problem
