The rear axle is about 5mm wider, but the factory a me will have to be binned anyway to fit the awd one (which is based on a 700/900 rear axle)

It's not uncommon in the ford world for people to weld Sierra and Escort floorplans and bulkheads to FWD cars. If you had the skill set I'm sure it could be done with a Volvo.

Someone done it to a 854R. Not sure where the thread is but think its on T5D5.
I wouldn't bother. The cost would outweigh the unreliable outcome. Awd is a mine field of engineering part changes & not the best of designs.
I absolutely hated working on my v70r awd in the end....
