If you have a lot of keys on your key ring this can upset the pick up ring and will stop it reading the chip in the key,try it with the key on its own.

I did look on your website a few days ago for a 120 amp alternator but could not see one for my car - V50 1.8 petrol 2006 with heated seats.
Only 120 amp one listed seemed to be for a 2.0...

This happens to mine as well. It's one of these 'wonderful' irritating P2 problems.

Apparantly someone on here told me it's down to other keys confusing a sensor next to the ignition barrell...

Try using your other key for a while - ?
